How can you possible guarantee safety? What from flu/Swine flu/MersSARS? they are all still out there. How are you describing safety? Don't expect a vaccine because they still haven't found one for the other Coronaviruses.. Also, the government are listening to the scientists who all say different things? Who should I believe Dr King and his alternative lot who have an axe to grind or the bloke on TV who you believe is a government puppet? You can see why people get confused? No evidence that the kids going back is going to make things worse. They have gone back in other countries so why not ours?

I must say I’m losing any hope of making mine in early September.

Other countries are further ahead on the old curve than we are and have proven more adept at dealing with this every step of the way. If they could submit some detailed plans to be scrutinised for how teachers will be protected and schools can operate as safely as in Denmark, for example, then great. I expect they haven’t and won’t and will just expect teachers to trust them or else. Sorry but after our stream of ****-ups and lies you don’t get that luxury of being trusted.

Not helped by the Mail and the like painting them out as some sort of militant enemy for daring to question whether the right measures are in place.

King is doing what scientists are meant to do and scrutinising and debating. We are being purposely opaque about the information we base decisions on which raises the obvious possibility that we aren’t really led by the science at all.

Nearly as bad as someone who posts utter incorrect rubbish all day and cannot even give any evidence to his posts? As for me I have been very vocal in the past about the party and certain MP's and I will do in the future.
As for the holiday dig. I have a house in France and need to get some repairs done before winter. While I am out there I will enjoy a few weeks in the sun. It has nothing to do with Boris or the government ... Maybe Macron. :emoticon-0100-smile

Well, it is and it's the unions that are kicking up a fuss... I wonder why? <doh>
As for the curve... what about Sweden or Australia... what about the fact that covid was in Europe last year and we went about for months without caring about it? What happens when they dont find a vaccine for years are the teacher supposed to stay away?

Sweden have proven to be about as good at social distancing without a lockdown as we were with our fudged half-lockdown. No idea about Australia. I suspect both have smaller class sizes and a better, safer set-up than we do. Happy to be corrected.

Imagine a union not being all that keen on their members catching a virus. If it’s as safe as elsewhere it shouldn’t be hard to prove it but they won’t. And you really took offence to being labelled right wing.

No mate I think you lost yourself. I get all your anti-government stuff but you really need to look at the whole picture? This disease has infected our lives and it's human nature to want answers and when you don't get them, you start to blame. However, when you do start to accuse someone of something you need the full facts and sadly that's where your arguments fall flat.

With all due respect bob, you are not a scientist (like me) but you keep talking as if you know better than them, when you don't. Like the government... you are not a politician and probably don't understand 99.9% of what's going on (like the rest of us). Keep moaning about everything doesn't give us any answers.

I remember when Rio Ferdinand got loads of crap from people about his performances. He was slated, even on here. I remember saying this isn't the same player from Man U. Then we find out his wife was dying of terminal cancer. I was gutted because I, like most never knew what was actually going on. The same bit of advice for Covid in that I will wait until we can really understand what has gone on.

Don't worry Watford I saw some stupid leftie woman on TV saying how she was getting a group together to take the government to the high court (aka Gina Miller) over the failings. The sad thing was you could see when she was talking that she could give a toss about who has died. She was only interested in causing problems for the government. We really do have some idiots in our society.

Those people aren’t helpful either. Boris and the rest deserve to be nailed for this and face some serious time inside. They won’t, obviously.

But it needs to be done in a methodical way rather than randoms getting squashed in court and giving right wing ostriches something to cling onto.

Be interesting how they explain the contract given to dyson away for starters. How can a company who has never made them, can only produce a tiny number be awarded a contract. I won't hold my breath though reports into the Tory party are hardly forthcoming.

I understand that the government have made loads of mistakes and have also lied during this whole process. No you're right I'm not a scientist nor a politician yet I understood enough at the time to know major social sporting events were a bad idea, not closing the borders was a bad idea, not locking down soon enough was a bad idea, letting people out of hospital into the community and care homes with a positive test result was a bad idea. Now granted, we didnt know some of this until it was investigated and the government were found to be lying about it. Some of it, was called for well before, even by some of the non experts on here. I know that you know it's been a **** show, I know that you know that your party have lied and tried to mislead people from the very beginning. You just choose to try not believe it cos it scares you that you support someone who is capable of this. No shame on that mate.

WTF! Should we also include loads of the NHS people that gave them the advice or many scientists that agreed? Never gonna happen. Look at Blair and Iraq war? You know how things go .. there will be a few knighthoods.

Wills that a non-story. He was just helping out and very few were made. Should we also persecute them for the contracts given out for the nightingale hospital that was never used? And if things had gone wrong and we hadn't built it I guess you wouldn't have complained if people died in hospital corridors?

Depends if they actually acted on scientific advice or not. Given how often our science diverged from foreign science it seems odd. I’d happily have that **** Harries rot for a decade in Holloway too after her “testing isn’t appropriate for rich countries like us” comment amongst others. Exemplars to the world and all that.
