I would've thought the overtakes for the lead on Rosberg at Spa and Alonso at Monza would've silenced this nonsense, I'm guessing the Lewis fans cling to any old myth these days.
My opinion of Sebastian Vettel has changed after these last few races. i thought that it was the car doing all of the work, but in the last few races, he's just seemed to be at another level to anyone else. More to come in Japan you would have to assume.
Bit devastated by Schumacher's judgement, he was hitting over-speed and accidentally out-braked himself, no need to hate as I have seen on the past pages. The fact that he was closing on Rosberg in the race was a big hit to me when he collided. He will be back on form in Suzuka, only 10 points behind Rosberg with 4 DNF's this season... Keep progressing Michael we are with you. All I care is that he is safe and well. Bit shocked about Hamilton.. but I have nothing to comment on that.. because I can't be bothered at all.
So...Anyone looking forward to the F1 2011 Season Review? I'm not even gonna buy it...not going to pay to see two hours (give or take) of the same guy doing the same thing he's done all year.
Hamilton drive thru - a joke !! What about Rosberg on Perez ? And does Shumi think he's driving an F1 car or piloting a learjet ? Hamilton is a marked man by both the stewards and by certain drivers - who when they see THAT yellow helmet in their mirrors will place their car where they woudnt for other drivers - he is the F1 equivalent of Joey Barton. Simple as. Massa isnt fit to wear Hami's earrings and if Mclaren can give him the car next year he'll kick butt !! Isnt it funny how the only drivers who constantly moan about Hamilton are the ones who clearly aren't in his league. Ron - two drivers with equal status isnt working. Overrule Whitfarce and rebuild the team around Hamilton like it used to be. He can then fight his rivals - who enjoy the out and out luxury of number one status on a level playing field. Trust me its the way to go. As for the media - one good thing about Sky taking over F1 next year is that it gets rid of that eejit EJ and the Button hugging Hamilton bashing jealous ex driver brigade. It drives me to distraction. And finally RB and Vettels dominance have made this year a complete NON EVENT compared to the 2010 thriller and as far as I'm concerned its already forgotten history. Get your act together Mclaren and Ferrari. Bring on 2012.
Nico didn't cause Perez any damage to his car, that's why he didn't get penalized. Where as Lewis gave massa a puncture and ruined his race position.
Nico didn't cause Perez any damage to his car, that's why he didn't get penalized. Where as Lewis gave massa a puncture and ruined his race position. -------------------------- Fair enough. Obviously Hami intended to overtake but did not intend contact and looked to me like he locked up trying to avoid and hence in my book Massas puncture was more the result of an unfortunate racing incident. Everyone has an opinion but as a marked man Hamilton now has what he doesn't need - a reputation - and he doesn't have what he does need - the benefit of doubt. At the moment it seems that other drivers can get away with worse and the sport MUST be seen to be consistant.
I agree, it was an intended overtake and it was very tight and he almost pulled it off going into that corner, I mean if Lewis was given another 10cm he would of made it, maybe. Wasn't the move that was for the punishment, but the damage it caused.
Place your bets here on which ridiculous spot Webber will overtake Alonso at Suzuka!! Available bets are: - Around the outside of 130R = 2:1 - Around the outside of Spoon Curve = 4:1 - Around the outside of Turn 6 = 10:1 - Up the inside of the Degner Curve = 20:1
Why would McLaren build their team around the losing team-mate? As for the penalty, deserved? not sure, but they gave Alonso a penalty at Malaysia for a similar incident, and I don't think he made any sort of impact in Lewis' race there. I'm not a fan of all these racing incident penalties, especially when accidental incidents liek these are punished yet out and out flagrant rules abuse like Schumacher last race go completely unpunished, it's quite ridiculous.
Why would McLaren build their team around the losing team-mate? ---------------------------------- Losing at the moment - he's never been beaten by a teamate and its not over yet. Button has certainly upset the apple cart big time at Mclaren. The way I see it is Button is a Whitmarsh signing and as such has been given undivided attention since his arrival and his influence has grown as a result. I don't think Hamiltons frustrations are just the result of seeing Vettel clean up. Even when he had that dog of a car in 2009 he drove better and had Button not arrived last year and Hami had still enjoyed 'golden boy' status I'm sure he would have secured a second championship - even in the 3rd fastest car for most of the season. Red Bull and Ferrari have seen this and that's why - even with Hamilton making noises they can't (not won't but can't) touch Hami for fear of the same apples rolling around their own stable. After all, Webber and Massa still bring the points home. Hamilton has lost his edge -his mojo but IMO when on song he is by far the faster and the better racer at Mclaren and with the right car underneath him is absolutely top drawer - THE driver to be feared most. It's up to Mclaren to sort it out. If not then unless they deliver a car that is perfect in every way and faster than any other then I'm afraid they are backing the wrong horse. Some will disagree with what I've said and that's fine. It's all about opinions.
Hamilton and Button are equals. The favouritism thing is rubbish. Lewis has been there since he was a kid and you think they would instead focus on a man they ignored for 9 years? If Hamilton is as superior as so many people say then he wouldn't need extra support to beat Jenson.
Hamilton is just too mentally weak while Button is the strongest mentally on the grid apart from Alonso.
i disagree, i think Button is even more mentally stronger than Alonso i remember when he lost his chance at winning the title last year in korea, he didn't seem that upset and joked about it same with seb this year at spa, they were joking about their collision the year before i couldn't see hamilton and massa doing that
I would probably class both Button and Alonso as about the same. Certainly Alonso and Button are easily the strongest mentally on the grid.
Ill go for the outside of Spoon Curve. Ferrari's biggest problem is mechanical grip so Alonso will be vulnerable after the hairpin. He'll take the inside line for Spoon but Webber wont back out and Alonso will be forced to yield. Even as an Alonso.fan I would find it hilarious if Webber pulls off another crazy overtake on Nando. If Alguersuari is there to block Alonso like he did in Singapore, Webber could humiliate Alonso anywhere on the track. The overtake was inevitable but Torro Rosso shouldnt be able to assist Red Bull in this way. Buemi did it in Abu Dhabi as well - let Webber past quickly but blocked Massa (I think) for the whole race.
Thats a difficult thing to say, as its to all purposes impossible to know whats going on inside their heads and how its effecting them. What I can say is that Alonso and Button aeem to hold onto their emotions more than the others, usually.
Very true, but it does appear that Alonso and Button are least affected both performance wise and behaviour wise by external factors such as team mate performance, teams/car performance, or the media. Schumacher I would say yes. Vettel I would say not yet; last year he got a bit flustered when Webber was on top, he made a few mistakes despite never really being under real pressure regarding the WDC; this year he has improved but it is much easier when you have that performance advantage and not a team mate challenging you, plus he has still shown a few cracks such as in Canada and Germany. That is not to say Vettel can't join them just that in my view he has not been truly tested yet.
