I wouldn't say its a fake virus, but I'm sure it's came out of a lab facility and now the genie is out the the only way forward is total control of what we do.

They let slip very early that things will never be the same again which shocked me a bit because why wouldn't it go back to normal its a virus it comes and it goes.

What I've seen is a major shift in control over us on the back of this.... Held by debt for the rest of our lives, tracking apps like big brother, mandatory vaccination, travel restrictions grassing on neighbours the taking down of freedom of information and freedom of speech.

I'd rather take a risk with a virus than live in a world where I'm not free and my children get less rights to what I had growing up.

    Problem.... Virus
    Reaction... Fear
    Solution.... Loss of rights

To be fair to MPs, they didn’t receive a bonus. They received expenses up to £10,000, to cover the additional costs of new working arrangements forced on them by having to work from home. Presumably they will have to claim for that money and account for how it is spent.

Old Bill outside the station today. Standing about 2 foot away from each other. Going to be an interesting morning on the railway.

The Underground have a one way system in place to reduce social contact, but have clearly failed to take into account the absolute stupidity of the public.

One of the worries that school staff and parents have is what happens if a student/parent ignores the 7/14 day self isolation rules.
As I understand it, there is no nstionsl rule that all the students and staff will be told to self isolate if this happens.
Yet the app that is being developed will tell those who have come into contact with someone who has symptoms to self isolate for 14 days.

These inconsistencies need to be sorted if school staff, students and parents are to have any faith in returning to schools.

My school has made it clear that they will doing this (along with other measures) which makes it an easier decision to return (even though we will be almost unable to socially distance due to our children's mental health issues).

Agree entirely. I posted some similar things on the Sunderland board. I'm only in one day a week generally at the moment so, coupled with the setting, marking and phonecalls am probably only averaging 20 hours a week at the moment. The news reports of "schools closed" and going "back to school" really do play into a narrative whereby I, as a teacher, am just sat at home on holiday living on the tax-payers money.

I cannot speak for all teachers but as I'm also sole-parenting a 3, 6 and 8 year-old alongside the school-work I cannot wait to "return" to school either. My days in are the easiest days of my week...

the self isolation rules already exist so if someone is going to ignore them surely they would ignore rules applying specifically to schools ?

But there's a lot of people who, understandably, are only concerned about themselves. If they need to be in work for their finances then I have no doubt they'll be sending their children into school and ignoring self-isolation guidelines too.

Example: For the past couple of decades you're meant to keep your child off school for 48 hours after any vomiting or diarrhoea, most people bend this to fit when they want to go back to work. I don't see why this situation wouldn't be used likewise.

There was a poll by Ipsos-Mori a couple of weeks ago which showed that of the people polled only 40% were happy to go out to social situations like a restaurant (due to the proximity and contact) but 60% were happy to send their children to school. I'm personally not in the camp that thinks sending children back is going to cause a spike (though can't be sure of course and that is based on class sizes of more like 10 - like they have in Denmark where we keep being compared to - than 15) but the poll results reek of people ignoring risks they don't want to see.

so how would a new rule help then ?
all the evidence suggests that children are a very low risk and you are much more likely to get it from a colleague or shopping according to the research so far .

Almost completed my flight back to UK (2 more hours to go I think). Fairly normal from Jakarta to Doha but with a much lower level of service and limited food choice. Doha to Manchester is a different level of precautions all together. Flight attendants are in full Hazmat suits with safety glasses, latex gloves and bootees etc.

They have obviously heard the stories that the UK is not taking it seriously.
