As graphic as your statement is, it doesn't come close to describing this poor specimen of humanity.

As someone with the virus needs to have been in your home and contaminated it before you can catch it, this is quite obviously nonsense.

Ricky Gervais calls for celebrities to be banned from Honours List and replaced with NHS heroes

Ricky Gervais has called for celebrities to be banned from 2021's New Year Honours List.

The comedian, 56, said only heroes and frontline workers should instead be rewarded for their bravery during the pandemic.

Speaking to the Christian O'Connell show in Australia, the After Life star said: 'I never want anyone to complain about the NHS again, or nurses or doctors or anyone on the front line. We've got to remember we clapped for them and that should always be there.

Speaking out: Ricky Gervais has called for celebrities to be banned from the next New Year Honours List
'The New Year's Honours list should not go to celebrities this year. It should go to those people.'

The funnyman also took aim at fashion designers and beauty gurus, saying they are not worthy of the esteemed honours.

He said: 'Give it to someone who gave a kidney to a stranger, not someone who invented a new type of mascara.

'I've seen people given a knighthood for services to fashion. What are you talking about, services to fashion?

Heroes: The comedian, 56, said only NHS and frontline workers should instead be rewarded for their bravery during the coronavirus pandemic
'Christ, it's not that hard. People are finding cures for cancer and AIDs.'

Gervais also took a swipe at reality stars who are desperately seeking fame to make themselves happy, and said it was 'bordering on mental illness'.

He continued: 'We all want to be happy. We don't know how to do it. Sometimes we're sold bad advice.

'People think fame can make them happy. Then they're like, why am I not happy? People don't realise having worth is a huge thing to tick off before you can feel happy. And fame's not the place for it.

'I see these reality shows they go on and they're bordering on mental illness in a way. People think, "oh if I could just be loved and accepted by strangers I'd be happy", no... that's not true either.

'You've got to learn to love yourself.'

Gervais has been critical of celebrities throughout the pandemic for moaning about the situation from their mansions.

The star publicly ridiculed stars such as Sam Smith, 27, who caused a furore when he broke down in tears on Instagram from self-isolation in his £12 million home.

The comments come after reports that Gervais was offered £5 million to write a third series of After Life.

It is thought that the actor, who confirmed series three last week, is due to meet network bosses next month to tie down the seven-figure deal.

But along with a third instalment of the popular show, he will also be expected to write a number of standalone comedy specials, according to reports.

An insider told : 'After Life smashed expectations again with the second series and Netflix wanted to tie Ricky down with a big money deal.

Success: It was recently claimed that he's been offered more than £5million to the third season of Netflix's After Life (pictured on the series)
Ricky Gervais admits he might develop a third season of After Life

'They basically approached him with a blank cheque and after bashing out the finer details he will receive just over £5million for the third After Life.

'As part of the wider deal Ricky will also pen a couple of comedy shows and skits for Netflix.'

The next series of After Life had been earmarked to air by Spring 2021 but filming could be delayed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

A representative for Ricky was contacted for comment at the time of publication.

He is not far wrong with what he has said, some people need to get a grip. If u are spending lockdown in your country house it's not that bad. I like his show too, mainly because it makes people cry

I think the bit that Ricky got wrong, is that very very very very very very very few celebrities (if thats what they want us to call them) are EVER worthy of a significant accolade, not just in 2021...

    Back to school?

We never left... still here with the most vulnerable and the children of key workers. Worked through Easter and bank holidays and about to work through Whit Week too. Some working their weekends as well. Fancy that, teaching staff working through the holidays :1980_boogie_down:

Not asking for a medal or a New Years Honours. Just asking for the kids and ourselves to be safe.

Everton have announced fans will be refunded the remaining games of their season pass. Norwich, Liverpool and Manchester City had previously announced this too.

Tottenham will be transferring the value of the games in credit to deduct from their fans’ season passes.

Manchester United has announced the same for those not renewing or the price deducted from next season’s pass for those which are.

Brighton are offering the same as Manchester United or a third option where fans can donate the difference to the Albion charity.

The statistics solely look at the deceased’s occupation, it provides no further analysis – such as where the disease was caught.

The rate of COVID-19-related deaths among teaching and educational professionals, which for the purposes of the data collection excludes TAs, educational support assistants, lunchtime and crossing patrols, school secretaries and advisers and inspectors, was 6.7 per 100,000 for men and 3.3 for women.

This is roughly the same rate as those classed as business and public service associate professionals (6.8 and 2.8) and corporate managers and directors (6.4 and 2.6), but much lower than those in elementary trades and related occupations (27.8 and 12.5) and those in textiles, printing and other skilled trades (24.6 and 7.0).

**** me, what a callous question.

Is this how we measure acceptable decision making these days?

    It's just a ****ing headcount?

It's bleedin' obvious that once schools go back, then children, teachers, their assistants, admin staff and anyone else who pass through schools will be numbered among the dead.

It is inevitable. It will happen.

    How could it not?

As a society we may be happy with that. We may accept that as part of the greater good.

    Fine.

But don't follow the Daily Mail conceit of pretending that it doesn't matter and that these people are sub-human and don't deserve protection.

    Because they do.

One of them is even my daughter.

    With the most vulnerable?? Explain.
So all teachers worked all through their holidays? Why would you for a few kids? And why would they need to? Explain and put some detail in

True but does not include TAs and other similar staff who work closest to children 1:1 & the scores will be reduced by the lockdown...

For those still (as most schools are) working with children with higher needs including personal care as the proposed youngest ones that are going to go back all we need is a few of these...

OK I admit it was a short and hard to the point question, however there is a growing movement (maybe political point scoring in some cases) to stop, prevent or delay kids going back to school. As Cortez91 has said many schools have been open all the time and teachers have been teaching them, so what happened? this is not scare mongering and hypothetical situations, the evidence is there to see.
