I wouldn't make that assumption, no.

And as a parent, Boris Johnson or Rishi Sunak telling me it's ok for kids to go back isn't going to hold any water.

I want some statics and reasoning behind it, that's what I'd be listening to.

    I think that too.

My Mrs is on about them re sitting the whole year. Makes no sense whatsoever, that year group was more or less complete, bar their exams. Let them sit them

Exam conditions is one thing school related where social distancing would be extremely easy to implement. Seems odd not to do it.

i agree, but where will you get this information apart from our government daily briefings, will they be the same crowd who have been advising our inept government all along.

Kids are at low risk and it looks like their viral spread is low as well though that isn't definite from what i've seen . Smaller kids though will normally get very close to one another so presumably increasing that risk of passing on virus .
As i haven't got any kids , have enough trouble with dogs , i'll leave it up to those of you who have to make the call .

My kids at nursery. Spoke to one of the teachers on Thursday and she said that government guidelines around social distancing do not apply to kids 7 and under. Most 3 year olds can’t even go to toilet on their own etc. She said that cleaning etc will be increased and as much outdoor activities as possible.
FWIW if my wife wasn’t shielding we would be sending her back on the 1st of June. Young kids need to be around friends and other people.

    If you trusted them yes.

It's funny how Eton doesn't plan on opening up until September (i read somewhere). Therein lies what the elites really think

You can access stats from other reliable sources.

That's what I've been looking into.

I genuinely can't trust anything 'the media' is putting out.

I've lost all faith in the BBC for instance, their reporting of all this is an absolute shambles.

Reluctant to send mine back (year 10) ... not because of her own health, but the missus is in the vulnerable categories and kids are not going to adhere to strict isolating boundaries, with the best will in the world <ok>

Yeah I tend to go along with that last sentence too. Have also noticed that his reading and writing has gone slightly backwards in this time despite him doing school work at home. Problem with this age is a lot of teaching is still play based etc.

I wouldn't even consider it if me or his mum were in the highest risk category but am definitely leaning towards him going back. At the minute anyway, and if she can agree lol.

At the moment, at least in the education authority she works in, they are only planning on sending primary school kids back. Not secondary for now.

Why the final year ones can't sit exams is beyond me?

depends how paranoid your ex is.

To be honest, this doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon and i don't think you can live a life isolating away. If you're not in a high risk category, it's probably best for his development to go and meet his friends and develop socially. Whatever you guys decide though, there's no right or wrong answer, you can only do what you think is best based upon the stuff you read.

Mothers decide this stuff. Fathers might get to have their say, but it doesn't really matter what you say - in the end, she'll decide. Best accept it.

If you or the wife (or both) have had the shielding letter, then your kids shouldn’t be going back to school until your 12 weeks are up. Works out around end of June for us.
This is what we were told by our nursery btw so might not be entirely accurate, but does make sense in my mind.

Believe me, that's the way the ****ing Family Law Courts see it. But it was 20 years ago, and I'm not still bitter and broke by it all.

The science seems relatively clear that kids aren’t particularly at risk from this virus.

However, what isn’t clear at all, is whether they contract it and how readily they spread it. So for me, the debate isn’t so much about the level of risk for the retuning kids, it’s about the level of risk that the teachers are to be exposed to, holding classes with however many potential virus carriers, and the viral load that they could be subjected to. Together with whether the kids could then contract and spread the virus within their family groups.

I don’t see the rush, unless the logic is that without returning schools, then the numbers of people they can get back into work is vastly reduced..........
