    For heaven's sake - whatever next? I dare say that some will think this a good idea - but just imagine being in an ICU with Covid-19 and finding yourself being put onto one of these. You'd lose the will to live.<doh>

    "Right from the start we've tried to throw a protective ring around our care homes. We set out our first advice in February... we've made sure care homes have the resources they need" says Health Secretary, Matt Hancock.

    This is not true. Even if they had tried the numbers say they have failed terribly.

    If only they admit their failings at this time... But every time they bend the truth they invite refutation...

    And they have become experts at bending the truth - without any hint of shame.

    sick to death of seeing the same people shame him and moan about how he should of put us in lockdown sooner, moaned right the way through having to stay indoors and then moan about how he hasn't lifted it yet and how much of a **** job he's doing while he's probably paying 80% of their wages to sit at home on their arse and stay safe. Anybody any idea about the colossal amount of ins and outs of putting an entire country in lockdown? Thought not."

    How easily led some are! The person who wrote the above has tried to link the picture with the coronavirus. The picture was taken at the Tory Party Conference in 2002.

    There's a proliferation of pictures like this on social media at the moment - it's almost as the Ministry of Disinformation is flooding the cybernet in an attempt to make people feel sorry for him and forgive his incompetence.
    As exposed by Reuters... https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-...n-of-leading-through-a-pandemic-idUSKBN22Q2K9

    It is clear the pandemic has shown that the vast majority of countries were not prepared for such an event. Yesterday French President Macron faced the wrath of doctors and nurses complaining about the lack of facilities and equipment. One nurse asked him why they had to wear masks which expired in 2001.

    Macron backlash: French leader confronted by furious doctors 'We are the shame of Europe!'

    Leaders in many other European countries, especially those badly hit such as Italy and Spain, have faced similar criticism. This should be remembered by those trying to single out our present government.

    They are all lacking and all deserve fierce criticism.... Apart from a number of far eastern countries, who have been through this before, the Western countries in the main ignored their own pandemic research, let stocks dwindle or outdate, and failed dismally in moving to a quick lockdown..... resulting in thousands of unecessary deaths of peoples mums dads, grandmas, aunts uncles children colleagues and friends.....

    How anyone can seek to lessen the impact of this beggars belief....

    One week of slightly relaxed regulations, and France is seeing outbreaks of the virus cropping up again, and in areas where there have been few cases until now. The common issue seems to be where groups of people get together. A funeral, a college, a slaughterhouse, residential home for young workers are typical. At present it is too early to say how serious this might be, a seven to fourteen period is required for it to develop. These new cases are scattered around the whole country, not in just one area, so with the numbers in hospital or dying really seen to be under control, any further outbreaks will be stamped down on hard I expect.

    Nobody is trying to lessen the impact of the pandemic, just trying to inject some much needed perspective on our government's performance so far. I'm sure all governments will learn by their experiences. There is also a clear political agenda to some of the hysterical stories which arise, later to be found to have no basis.

    Yeah and you’ve got a clear agenda to defend our Govt irrespective of the reality. Other countries have also got this wrong, but others have done considerably better e.g. Germany.

    Come on ....you are one of the biggest political stirrers on here.... this is NOTHING to do with party politics { remembering the abuse I got from you when suggesting a govt of national unity}

    For example, the (not left wing) Times today indicating how western govts got it all wrong, treated the virus as a flu,.... and it so very different.

    We should have followed the lead of China Korea Hong Kong etc, all who had first hand experience of Sars/Mers ...and did total lockdown with testing and tracing straight away.....
