If I had to pick my best (most emotional) memory, over the past 60 years, it would have to be when an old guy (he'd have been about my age now) broke down in tears on my shoulder at the end of the Hillsboro' semi in '73. Much better/more memorable than the actual final - we'd just destroyed Arsenal that day. To quote the FT on the following Monday "If the score had been 10, 12, or even 14-1, Arsenal could have had no complaints"! (pride).
Back in the early 60s beating Newcastle at their place 3-0. Neil Martin and John O'Hare amongst the goals iirc. We took over the Gallowgate end it was fantastic, being pushed around when the goals went in finished the match nowhere near where we started at kick off. It wasn't just the six in a row when we hammered them at their place....magic day, magic times.
It’s a close 2nd for me. The winner for me is roughly 11 months later when the Tyne-Wear Derby was 0-0 ticking into injury time.....
