Spent the entire day on the front garden today; dug a 2ft boarder all the way around (the grass had taken over and grown to all four edges). Put a few plants in too...

Had a spin out on the bike earlier just to go to the shops and mainly to test my brakes out as the rear clincher had developed a loud squeak. I went out for 15 miles yesterday and it was irritating the hell out of me and probably anyone else within range. Right at the end of that longer ride I was coming up the fairly steep hill that I live at the top of, it's maybe 7-9%, and caught and flew past some guy in full team kit so had a good laugh about that to myself and felt fairly satisfied

At first I just cleaned the pads with a bit of sponge and soapy water before I went out yesterday but it didn't work so tonight I've washed and degreased my rear wheel and done the pads again more thoroughly. What's happened I think is grease or degreaser from when I cleaned my cassette and rear mech around a week ago has got on the braking surface of the wheel or onto the pads and that's the source so hopefully more of a deep clean works. I'll be going out again tomorrow so let's see. Still looking at getting a couple of new jerseys and a gilet. I did just order some new hiking boots as I want to get out walking more ... Columbia ones that were £75 down from £135 on their website, but I found them on Amazon for 46 quid.
