It was back to sitting in the garden today. I might catch a cold if this change of temperature keeps happening. I'll be scared ****less to cough though. I keep waiting for those bleddy football people to make a decision and announce what they are going to do with this season. Every time I expect one they seem to put it off till the next day or next week. Don't know about you lot but I just want to know whats going on whatever the decision is and be damned.
See you in League 1 next season greeny. We will just miss promotion, with Coventry, Rotherham and Oxford going up. We might be involved in play-offs. I think the decision will be made today to cancel the rest of the season and base promotion and relegations on average points per game home and away and project the rest of the season based on remaining matches
According to the BBC sport web site there are 6 clubs who want the season to continue, Peterborough, Oxford, Sunderland, Fleetwood, Pompey & Ipswich, we are the only team not mentioned between 3rd & 8th can not understand why Ipswich have added their name to the list, when you think we are 7pts in front of them with two games in hand. The others yes they all want to do a Luton go up & probably come straight back down. Also if & it's a big if, if we won our game in hand we would be third. The other thing is which of those teams above us still have to play the Bury fixture, I know Pompey's last home game was against Bury, that means we have to games in hand over at least two teams above us.
This suggests EFL prefer unweighted PPG, therefore putting Wycombe 3rd. But still want play-offs. Effectively it's looking increasingly likely Wycombe will have play-off matches when safe. Whether they use weighted or unweighted PPG will just determine our position & opponent.
Guy I have been trying to find out if there are other clubs above us apart from Pompey who still have to play Bury, every website I find the fixtures have been wiped
Why is that relevant Phil? I thought every team just played 44 games instead of 46. As far as I recall, no team played Bury
League 1 can't agree on how to proceed. The "up to £140,000" bill that teams will get for testing might put off a few clubs from continuing playing. Peterborough want to enforce a rule that teams who refuse to play must forfeit their games. Do they have plenty of money or what? Personally I would have thought taking the points per home game and points for away games and applying those to remaining home/away games was the fairest way but it seems they are going for a straight unweighted average which, as Guy says, puts us 3rd. 3rd place in L2 gives them promotion so congrats to Plymouth. As I said earlier greeny, see you in L1 next season
Thanks Ron but I refuse to even think about celebrations just yet. When promotion is announced formally then I might just cheer quietly. I think that not to promote or relegate would be wrong but what I think doesn't matter much does it. I notice the clubs not happy are the ones who dip out. Well dip out in their eyes that is. They also seem to be the "bigger" clubs based on finances mostly. As per usual if a place can be bought over and above other clubs then they want to use their superior clout. My view is if you are that big then what are they doing in league one or two in the first place. And, why aren't they up for automatic promotion where their concern wouldn't be required. They should have been better and it is their own fault if they don't go up at this stage.
Sunderland Ipswich Doncaster Pompey and Fleetwood last day of the season https://www.buryfc.co.uk/news/2019/june/20192020-fixtures-released/
It's relevant Ron because if every team above us has to play Bury which is'nt happening it means when they are not playing we have a chance of gaining 3pts on them as we have already had our two games against Bury
Just had a look at the Bury Fixtures Ron & if fixtures resume which I think is very unlikely Fleetwood have not a game on the last day of the season. What I can not understand league 2 have cancelled season they are going to promote clubs but not relegate clubs. Does that mean in League 1 they are going to promote clubs but not relegate anybody
I would guess they will have to relegate but one less than normal to leave 24 in the league. But that would leave L2 one short so maybe there will be one promotion from the National. Some league somewhere will be a team short but that must have happened before
I still don't understand the relevance Phil. Bury were withdrawn from the league at outset (or so I thought) so every team had 44 matches to play. The number of games remaining to be played by each team therefore is 44 minus the number of games played Wycombe have played 34 games and is showing as such in the Table. We have won 17 and drawn 8 giving 59 points which is also shown in the table (ie any game originally scheduled against Bury is ignored; no 3 points by default). So we have 10 games unplayed, Sunderland, for example, have played 36 games and therefore have only 8 games unplayed. We have the potential to gain 3 points on any team who has played more games than us, if playing resumed Maybe I am just having a senior moment but I'm still lost as to the relevance of Bury
I think its only relevant if the games were to be played as some will be getting a break but that's not happening but if it did Fleetwood would have a week less to complete their season

Wycombe's away points per game is not good so any weight adjusted method will push us down but I don't know how far because we are 5 points clear of those below. But it would probably (haven't checked) mean we wouldn't get to the play-offs. I'm sure the big clubs will push for whatever gives them the best chance of promotion
