Really interesting interview given the shutdown of racing. Fergal as many of you know is a really pleasant chap and comes across really well in that interview. The yard furloughing staff etc has been really well explained.
Fancy a bet En France? How about EW Raf Tavel @ 9/1 paying 5 places with Betfred. 12.35 race at Auteuil.
Tough as ol boots wasn't he. Weren't the owners a bit loopy. Fell out with their trainers regularly if my memory is right.
They fell out with Nicholls (someone ate the last doughnut) and move him to Noel Chance but after only 4 outings they moved him again to Hobbs. Before the 03 Festival they sold him to JP.
I've just had a look at his record mate and he won the Champion Chase on my first ever trip to Cheltenham in 2002. I'm pretty certain he was my only winner of the day too. The return didn't pay for the day. #cindiclearsherthroat
To qualify for the award you are now entering you need to have backed it ante-post and at a price at least twice that of his sp
No AP just a skinny price on the day which probably paid for a round of drinks among the fourball I was with and naff all else. I've had a little look back at 2002 to refresh my memory and the one that really pissed me off was the bumper winner - Pizzaro - ridden by one Jamie Spencer. All my group were on it but I knew better
Any day at the festival when Tom George and Peter Beaumont are among the winners is gonna be tough. Rhinestone Cowboy saved the bookies a real bashing in the bumper.
A great afternoon's racing, and I managed 3 winners! Without looking up the results in advance, before you suggest it! A great run by Bijou D'Inde to get back up in the last strides and a cracking demolition job by Vergas in the Coventry I fought the urge to ffw through the fashion features, mainly because they were commented on by Miriam Francome, who wasn't backward in coming forward about something horrendous. Unlike the eager to please, nonentities of today. I found the racing a bit ponderous if I'm honest, 35 minutes between races to fill, but at least there was a lot of chat about the horses both in the ring and on the way down. All in all, a nice trip down memory lane
