I’m not saying you’re a Tory, mate. You stress the fact you aren’t a Tory every time you defend the government’s incompetence. The government happens to be a Tory one but that doesn’t make you a Tory.

Yeah it could have easily been a mistake made by select staff members, ie completing paperwork after they've already left.

It wouldn't have been something widespread and purposely done though.

    Ok then.

I'm not 'celebrating' that our hospitals were never over run, I'm merely saying that we were told we would be, and that is why the government (incorrectly) decided to treat younger, more saveable, patients and send back to homes the older and more at risk.

What was proven to be correct was that the older and frail were indeed more at risk.

The other information as incorrect, we haven't been over run. Was that 'Tory' information though?
    Out of mere interest.

Yeah the NHS has been caught in a bit of a no-win situation with the capacity vs other illness thing. I was on here weeks ago talking about how capacity was higher than we needed and they were looking at how to start other services. And people were saying they shouldn’t as it would increase the risk of infection.

If we’d had not enough capacity it would have looked ****, when we have too much the focus switches to moaning about other health conditions.

It was always going to be difficult to precisely gauge how far they should switch to Covid-19 care and at what point to start switching back.

There’s a **** load of work that’s gone into making those decisions and how to then carry out those decisions though.

Not like the NHS has had to deal with anything like this before though and not like they had accurate information to base decisions on.

Just had a read through. No one mentioned the Tories until you did. People were criticising the government’s handling of the Coronavirus crisis, on a Coronavirus thread.

For someone who isn’t a Tory, you get very touchy at any perceived criticism of the Tory government.

If you're admitted with symptoms you will be tested. The policy for a while was that only those ill enough to need hospital treatment were tested wasn't it?

The policy on sending people to care homes is that a test was not necessary to discharge

    No, correct.

And neither did I, apart from saying ' is this where you misquote me and call me a Tory. Again'

Hope that's ok? In the context of having been misquoted and called a Tory on this thread multiple times, for having a different view on some things.

    Yes? Good.

I don't know about that, I was disputing the point that patients that who had tested positive were being sent to care homes without the homes being aware of said test.

I miss the good old days when testing wasn’t appropriate for us rich countries.

There’s accusations that has happened in some places, however the main issue is that the DoH guidelines issued on 2nd Apr said that COVID testing wasn’t a requirement before sending patients back to care homes. So patients went back untested, even if COVID was suspected.

Yeah fair enough, though that doesn't neccesarily stipulate that they won't be tested, just that it doesn't have to be negative to be discharged to a care home.

Can't say I agree with that but again it's not what I was disputing.

My point is there wouldn't have been a deliberate tactic of not telling care homes about positive cases. It would be included in the discharge paperwork.
