Cba to check what the actual reason is (something about tv probably) but, what's the rush to restart next month?

Why the hell can't we just finish this season in September (or even August) behind closed doors.

Then start next season immediately after, with crowds preferably and if safe.

Forget the European competitions for a year, no **** wants to be flying about all over Europe anyway ffs!

World cup qualifiers start April as warm up for the Euros that will go ahead as planned next summer.

We just play domestic football next season.

Or is that just too much like sense?

(If we absolutely had to have European cup and UEFA cup then it's exactly that, old format. Knock outs, no groups)

I've said since day one that the most sensible option would be to bin off the UEFA comps for a season.

Never going to happen though, their plan is even more bizarre than the PL's.

Play the CL like a world cup instead of constantly interrupting everyone's leagues

Could do that as well, but it means taking a few weeks off domestic football to stage the competition.

It would save time overall without needing to exclude loads of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from the football calendar

Surely it’d take the exact same amount of time since it’s the same number of games with the same rest days? It’d just be domestic followed by European rather than running alongside each other.

The entire season can be finished in half the time if every PL team is playing twice a week instead of just CL/EL teams doing that. Then European teams play a tournament and non-European teams do friendlies or whatever.

True, but next season is just going to have to be radical. Would anyone care too much if we just bin international till the WC, or is that unfair on fans from the lower leagues who look forward to them? Or should they just be happy if Prem and CL money keeps them afloat for a couple of years?

PS, Astro was alright in the end. I rubbed his belly for 20 minutes, he let out an enormous fart as big as Chernobyl, and he was sound this morning for his walk, except for the arthritis. :emoticon-0105-wink:

In fairness they'd only get sued if things go wrong surely and they should be worried about that.

If they aren't happy though they need to say. If they raise issues they'll be lambasted, if they go along with it and it goes wrong they'll be lambasted, if they go along with it and all is well they'll be ignored. That's their role.
