Actually there were British citizens and subjects in the 1700s. So even in the 1700s he would have been British!

 

Most American rebels wanted to remain in the Empire. It couldnt work out like that because George was literally hellbent on killing them all for treason.

The entire debate was mostly surrounding the fact the Americans had taxed imposed on them while not having a single representative in Parliament. George Washo was a British commander in the 7 years war. @1.4 trillion is right.

I knew as soon as @aberdude got involved what he was trying to turn the debate into, massive anti-royal flag basher. Was just trying to say "ye but i hate being British"

 

So some numpty decided to drive down here from Leicestershire yesterday, paddle out in his kayak (which presumably he forgot to put the drain plug in) got a mile out to sea and discovered his kayak was taking on water and sinking.

Somebody saw ‘something’ floating offshore and called the coastguard. Helicopter scrambled and they spotted him, so radioed the inshore lifeboat who went and got him. He’d at least had the foresight to tether himself to a lobster pot line, so that he didn’t drift too far. Anyway lifeboat picked him up he was suffering with hypothermia, so coastguard heli brought back to fly him to hospital.
