Start of the Saudi weekend. So won't be anything until at least Sunday/ Monday now.

You guessing, bud? It just seemed a little odd for Sky Sports to pipe up on it; there's nothing new to report and it seemed designed to be positive, using words like "Ashley's legacy" and "final knockings". Felt a little like putting all of the politics behind us, look at the football side and keep calm.

That said, I'd still bet on another few weeks because I think there may be an issue with the fact football is suspended.

I don't think Saudi weekend is necessarily going to have anything to do with it. Staveley is the front for this.

I saw Downie pop up again this morning..I hope so, but I've gone from thinking it could be today to it might never happen tbh.

why would sky do that? I don't understand how that all works , so I'm assuming you know their little tricks ?

From a Sky Sports perspective, it's about attracting attention. The takeover has been very quiet for a week or more now (aside from Twitter). By putting up a headline and a very positive message, you're spreading word about Sky's reporting (like I'm doing now), which in turn attracts the kind of viewers they want for maximum impact. I find the timing a little strange - why bring it up if you're not expecting some further developments imminently?

Word of caution - they may be guessing too!! It's not like there's a lot of news.

    That from their website?

Also Beguristain (sp?) has immediately resigned from Marseille. He was their Sporting Director, works alongside Garry Cook, formerly of Man City, who also leaves Marseille in a week or two. Might be completely unrelated to us and purely to do with Saudi's proposed takeover of OM, but I'm not sure why hugely respected and influential figures would be LEAVING Marseille when these kinds of people would be ideal after a takeover.

I see what you're saying and I hope you're right. It usually leads to an uprising of attempts to derail the takeover too.

If they are not coming to us and there is no takeover then it's all very conveniently coincidental.

"In terms of the takeover going through, we're pretty much at the final knockings. A lot of spade work has been done, certainly in the last two months, but even more so in the last couple of years."

"It's been with the PL for a number of weeks now [for an owners' and directors' test] but that can happen, it can take weeks, it can take months. With the current pandemic we've got I think that makes it even more difficult to work out when we'll have a resolution to this."

similar to last time really, but mentioned the difficulties it's faced from objectors. It seemed along the lines of when not if .

Yes, and I think there's a lot of substance to the other rumours of Coutinho, of Rabiot, etc. Again, might be nothing, but Pochettino's clause has now expired (14th May?) - it's all very, very odd and coincidental. However, word of caution (again) that it could just purely be coincidence.

Was thinking that myself. If so, the answer being:

'you will not reject this takeover as the Saudi's bring a lot of money into this country.'

Perhaps the PL were waiting for that meeting to make their final decision. If the Government says we can block - reject. If not - approve.
