Ok last season the corresponding fixtures were...

    (H) Arsenal 4-4 D
    (A) Mackems 1-1 D
    (H) Fulham 0-0 D
    (A) QPR (N/A)
    (A) Villa 0-1 L
    (H) Blackburn 1-2 L
    For: 6 Against 8 GD: -2

So thats 3 points from those 5 fixtures we played last season.

    This season our results...

    (H) Arsenal 0-0 D
    (A) Mackems 1-0 W (Get in you filthy monkey mackems! :emoticon-0105-wink: )
    (H) Fulham 2-1 W
    (A) QPR 0-0 D
    (A) Villa 1-1 D
    (H) Blackburn 3-1 W
    For: 7 Against 3 GD: +4

    12 points.

Our first 6 fixtures of 2010

    (A) Man U 0-3 L
    (H) Villa 6-0 W
    (A) Wolves 1-1 D
    (H) Blackpool 0-2 L
    (A) Everton 1-0 W
    (H) Stoke 1-2 L
    For: 9 Against 8 GD: +1

    7 points

Bottom line, despite having an "easy schedule" we are doing better compared to the corresponding fixtures last year and we are well up on where we were with a "team weaker than at the end of last season". If we had last seasons first 6 results we would be 13th, just ahead of the mackems.

I know we won't finish 4th but Im enjoying the nosebleed nonetheless!

    Howay the lads!

Just as an afterthought, but for Shay, we really should have had 3 points against Villa this season. For a team with a lot of new signings we have gelled well

However I suppose last season we were unlucky not to get 3 points in injury time against Arsenal, Gyan bundled the ball in extra time at the SOS while IMO we deserved nothing against Villa, Fulham and Blackburn last season. Fulham was probably one of the worst matches I have ever seen (bar the game against Derby...)

We seem to be taking more chances, more ruthless this year and we have had some shaky moments at the back we haven't went to pieces. Ryan "Over the Wall" Taylor has improved a lot at LB and dare I say it, can do a job until Santon is up to speed and has a chance of staking a claim for the first team.

if we had a full strength team against villa last season we would have won, i dont think we had like tiote, enrique and a few other missing, wasnt Raylor playing in the middle in that match?

I'd say the QPR game is the equivalent to the Brum one, in which case we won 2-1.
