I’m not sure to what extent playing football would actually involve putting their lives on the line. I won’t be watching football in an empty stadium anyway.

But I would point out that plenty of people do far more dangerous jobs for a lot less money, every day.

And it’s still fair to ask, how many are willing to give up their lifestyles, even temporarily?

Clubs have got the ability to manage testing through their medical teams, so theoretically you could have games behind closed doors. Along with a whole other raft of safety measures that would need to be put in place.

But there's one major flaw, if one person in the club contracts the virus, then his team mates have to isolate and the league is off again.

Might as well just accept that it's not happening yet.

I think you missed the point a bit Archers
We are not defending the players so much as arguing against playing games for no reason
The players are only paid the silly money because of the income they generate
We still have a way to go to match what American sports people earn/are paid

With the money they earn, if a few months off affects their lifestyle they either need to change their lifestyle or financial adviser.

I don't remember that one, The Protectors, although the name seems vaguely familiar. First thing I thought of when I googled it just now, was The Man from U.N.C.L.E. because of Robert Vaughan. I think that and The Saint, always came across as James Bond, especially as the latter was Roger Moore. It's odd, because when you look them up, Randall & Hopkirk got thrown in the same bunch, but they were more private investigators from a completely different angle, where's the others were more Espionage.
