England and Tottenham defender Danny Rose has criticised the Premier League's plans to restart the season amid the coronavirus pandemic. Club officials met on Monday to continue talks on "Project Restart", with the English top flight aiming to resume fixtures on 12 June. As of 11 May, 32,065 people had died in the UK with coronavirus. "Football shouldn't even be spoken about until the numbers have dropped massively," said Rose, 29. "People's lives are at risk." I don't think that we can get the total number of those who have died to drop massively.
Bit harsh maybe? If he doesn't fancy taking the risk at this point he can hardly be blamed, especially as he's black.
Guessing that the players who went home to their own countries, will be heading back soon as they'll need to be in a 2 week quarantine when landing back in England.
I understand his concerns which is fair enough, just that over the years he seems to get himself into the press for saying daft things. It's hard to explain and it's nothing to do with colour. The likes of him and Sterling are at one end of the scale and Rio Ferdinand, Rashford and Defoe are at the other. Some come across as OK types and some as cocks.
Well, he's a footballer so we don't expect pearls of wisdom! The colour bit I mentioned was just because BAME people seem to be at a higher risk from this virus than others so he might be feeling a bit more vulnerable.
Was it in an interview or a quote ? I think I would have said the same If that’s how it’s been presented by sky ****s to him then good for him
Speaking on Lock'Don Live on Instagram, Rose said: "Government is saying 'bring football back' because it is going to boost the nation's morale. "I don't give a **** about the nation's morale, bro, people's lives are at risk. "Football shouldn't even be spoken about coming back until the numbers have dropped massively. It's bollocks."
Looks like the Championship and Premier League are still aiming to restart by the second week in June.
