Hypothetically speaking - If the PL blocked the sale, Amanda Staveley could sue them for losses incurred. She could also sue BEIN sports.
There would be nothing theoretical about the claim against the PL. The claim against beIN would depend on showing that their input resulted in the PL's decision, so would be trickier.
Exactly. Loss is easily proven against the PL. A minimum of 17 million. BEin - Harder to prove, but their letter writing and comments by herr Keys would be highly persuasive.
It’s a very Middle Eastern thing to do. Posturing. Being seen to do the right thing by your overlords. Qatar have a massive inferiority complex as it is and they’ve probably worked out by now that PSG will never win the CL or get anywhere near the exposure of even a mid table PL club. Bein and subsequently Keys are just being lapdogs. The thought that the PL will bend to the whim of ONE sports broadcaster has many bad repercussions alone, so they won’t even entertain it. Trust me, this kind of dick swinging happens all the time out there, it’s expected.
I'm still keen to establish what this new evidence is. It has to be something new or they would have sent it to the premier league with the original complaint.
If the evidence from the French Court case had not been considered then that is :new' evidence. There is absolutely proof that anything has been submitted. It's based on a newspaper article which offers no evidence.
Nothing has happened for weeks. There can't have been any change since yesterday, last week or April. The risks to the deal are: a. The Saudis announcing that they are too skint to go through with this due to the fall in oil prices; or b. The PL growing a spine. The first would involve a loss of face which is almost unimaginable. The second is unimaginable.
There is no proof that it has happened either. A newspaper has published a story full of noticeable contradictions.
