Morning all. Bright and breezy here at the moment, but storm warnings are in place over the whole country. Looking forward to tomorrow when I will be able to go out for bread without my permit. Mme has asked me to get her car up and running again as she hasn't used it for weeks, and she would like to just get out for an hour, which will be allowed. No great explosion of feelings that it is all over here, but some relief that things are improving every day. Have a good one whatever you plan to do. <ok>

Did the number of fines for 'stay at home' non compliance in France reach 1,000,000, it was almost there last week?

Morning all. Am just back from a walk with my wife and our dog, a walk in which we learned a salutory lesson - never trust the weather. After setting off in bright sunshine, we headed for the beach - and the minute we arrived there it started snowing. Having trudged back home through a snowstorm, I now intend devoting the rest of the day to R & RF - Rum and Roaring Fire.

    Have a nice one...

You were brave BB, I restricted my self to taking the wheely bin out and watering outside plants as this wind dry's everything very quickly.

I wish I had too. The snow had all gone by mid-afteroon and the sun was shining again - the dog conned me into taking her out for another walk. Needless to say, we got halfway across the field behind us when it started hailing. Back to the fireside.

I learned a long time ago that that means nothing. In 1997 I got a 3:00am phone call saying my dad was dying. Four hours later, after hastily packing a suitcase, I started the thousand mile journey to Sydney & then on to London - and then drove up to Scotland. Sadly, I missed him as he had died three hours before I got there, but the one thing that sticks in my mind was his funeral three days later. Midsummer's Day at 2:00pm and it was snowing - there was me dressed in winter clothes designed for tropical Queensland, freezing my cojones off.

Morning all. Grey and wet here and the man at the Météo says it will stay like that throughout the day. Off to get some bread without my piece of paper this morning, or to give it it's proper name "attestation de déplacement dérogatoire." Why use one word like permit when you can construct half a sentence to say the same thing? Enjoy your day whatever you must do. <ok>

A long long time ago when I was teaching in Penicuik it snowed about 4/5" in late April and it was getting to the point where the HM phoned HQ in Edinburgh to ask if he could close the school. They did not believe him! They forget Edinburgh is essentially a coastal town and Penicuik is on the foothills of the Pentland Hills.

Anyone looked at the Watford FC site recently, I can't get rid of the drop down menus covering the whole screen.

Morning all.. Dave where are you ??

I have recently rather recklessly agreed to co author another book... Today is my first self designated writing day.. However i have somehow factored in several other 'important' tasks... I wonder whether I have made a good commitment!

    Have a good day everyone...

Morning all. Bright and breezy in rural France this morning, and after the steady rain nearly all day yesterday it is good to see that none is forecast for today. With the new rules that we are living under I had a look to see if the reasons for crossing the Channels had altered. They haven't not surprisingly, it still has to be a very good reason. Mme did wonder laughingly if restocking baked beans would count, but thinks we can live without them. I can just imagine trying to explain to a French border official that tins of these were essential to our well being. We once had an interesting experience at Limoges airport when one set of hand luggage consisted of a large fruit cake for a family celebration, and the scanner became confused as to what is was. When the customs man smelt the opened box he was content that it really was just a cake. Have a good day one and all. <ok>
