I think we're entering the 'end game'. The time for speculation and guesswork will soon pass, and we're going to have a wild few months is my guess. Let's just hope that it ends well for us.

Could the reason that he wants to stay even if he sells the club, be because there are more underhand dealings that are still to come to light and he believes that he could keep them hidden if he still has a foot in the door.
Just read this and holy s hit, what a mess. Its hard to believe where our club is and how far we have tumbled. The club are now looking at a 3rd season in this godforsaken division with owners who simply cannot sustain the financial stability of Sunderland AFC. I'm sure they are fully aware they have to go, I am guessing its a price issue, fingers crossed its soon, or I see us going into administration

If this is about the parachute payment not being repaid by our current owner, it may not matter IF THE BUSINESS IS SOLD.
The Club may simply be worth £30Mil, or whatever the amount was, less than would otherwise have been the case.
If on the other hand there is no change of ownership, that leaves a huge black hole in the Accounts.
It could be that in the not to distant future our local Derby's will be against Hartlepool!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Short had a lot to do with the Donald deal and I don't think we'll ever know exactly how close they got or what the nature of their arrangement really was.
Any time someone goes into the EFL and bangs the table, essentially holding the club to ransom and saying he'll blow it up if they don't accept, you have to worry. The fact he engineered the financial mess we're discussing now - make no mistake, he was an active part of it - means I can't personally stand to see him eulogised as 'Uncle Ellis' and all this ****e.
