Looks like Bojo feels the need to clarify his lockdown easing plans from yesterday, again today ... wonder why that is? ... expect a degree of backtrack, some tangential shift, some general shiftiness, some splutter, a BTEC churchillian impersonation ... and then the confirmation that we are still racing away at the top of the European death stats ... Go US!

Can’t stand instant black coffee, but I’ve done a cafetière of french coffee as it’s more palatable without milk than the instant stuff!

Wasn’t the plan always to give more detail today? Didn’t he even say that in his announcement?

Yet it’s mostly people who didn’t vote for them who are confused.

There’s thickos of all political persuasions unfortunately.

Japan has double our population, higher population density, by a long way, yet only 625 deaths.

What are they doing, that we clearly haven't?

I don't know, before anyone asks.

... I'm gonna hazard a guess at not having a bunch of bumbling twats in charge .. but the Bojo fanboys will no doubt roll out a graph pontificating that Japanese people are generally smaller than us and therefore able to duck below the R line <laugh>

Oh come on, I think when you listen to the people, the organisations making statements today and even Dominic Raab and Andrew Bridgen MP this morning, there are plenty confused and it's nothing to do with who you voted for.

He was actually asked to leave the announcement until today, in Parliament, then he could potentially have done a TV Broadcast this evening at 7pm. By doing it the way he did, all the finer detail was left out.

As has been said, returning to work affects more so the lower income families, because those that can work from home, will more likely be in higher paid jobs - that's not a media take on it, that's my own personal experience of what I've seen.

Also if you work in London and a lot of people commute, there is no way they can avoid public transport, so those higher paid workers, would be better suited to working from home.

The schools are not open yet, I get why, but that in itself creates a problem, and you have to hope you have a reasonable employer. Especially as grandparents cannot help, because Boris stopped short of directly saying, you are going to see your boss, before your mum - that last line was stolen from TV.

As always people will take their own interpretation of the rules, which will put the police in a difficult situation, especially as they've been rubber stamped to issue higher financial penalty tickets. But all you've got to say to the copper is I'm going to a garden centre (no one specified it had to be local) or B&Q, or I'm doing my unlimited exercise per day, quite easy to skirt around the guidelines, because no specifics were given last night.

I think you said you go to Scotland sometimes Saffy, I could be mistaken. If you do, who's guidelines will you be heeding to, Boris or Sturgeon <whistle>

As I said, there’s plenty of thickos of all political persuasions. I was being purposely inflammatory with that post as Fosse was suggesting it was one side of the political argument who were thick. The bait was for Fosse, not you :emoticon-0136-giggl

I agree, as with most things, someone’s political leanings aren’t the be all and end all of how they act as a person.
