I don't think the public are demanding that much. The polls I've seen suggest three quarters of the country don't want much of an easing. It's pertinent that at a time when relaxing the lockdown is being mentioned we're actually tightening border controls. That's taken two months.
My only concern about tonight is the change in the logo to 'stay alert' rather than 'stay at home' (it's 'stayhome' but that doesn't make any sense), 'cos that could be dangerous, so I hope, and expect, that he'll clarify that
Andrew Marr asked a question this morning, I forget which minister, but there was quite some mumbling. He had screenshot of 6 national Sunday papers all of which had the same 'Happy Monday' style headline. He asked how they were all predicting what the PM would say and pointing out it was the same bullet points. The ministersaid they hadn't been briefed so must all be guessing, or words to that effect. Are the government coaxing people out of lockdown without actually giving them permission ... ... or were the papers briefed to guage the reaction before the 7pm statement?
Reckon its too late.. The idiots will already have brainwashed themselves to think that because ''stay at home'' has been dropped, the govt must mean that its not necessary and its ok to go out as you please. I'm no fan of Jimmy Krankie up in Scotland but got to admit she's right on this one.
I believe this is deliberate by the government tbh ... ... coax the expendable guinea pigs out, without permission, and blame them if it goes wrong. BTW Wee Jimmy's approval rating has gone up in the Smug household, something of a surprise tbh.
That’s quite believable when you think about it . I’m even thinking I might vote for Jimmy next time , if my current N.Durham fella doesn’t start bothering to reply to my communications !
Well that's us ****ed, schools phased openings in June, cafes etc in July. Take your chances everyone
He's just leaving it all up to the public ... .... yer pays yer money, yer takes yer chances. The message is no longer 'Stay at Home' it's just 'keep your eyes open for bugs' This is just go back to work, if you can't work from home ... ... because we no longer want to pay you. Oh, and go back to work but you'll have to walk.
What made me laugh was saying go to work but we shouldn't use public transport. So unless you have a car are they going to provide us with taxpayers money to buy a "second home" that is within walking distance of work like they do for themselves?
I've just phoned my son in law who's in manufacturing and has been asked, by the PM, to go back to work tomorrow. He can't drive and lives 8 miles from work. He's reliant on buses but few are running and he could be standing at the bus stop at 7am tomorrow. If there's a bus load, and the bus arrives, who's allowed on and who decides?
Buses are running to Sunday timetables, so later first buses, less frequent buses and earlier finishing buses. Once every half hour at best and hourly most of the time, so more people on those buses especially rush hours. At first they presumed everybody could do their work at home (try doing that in construction), now they are presuming that everybody can walk to work. So far away from reality it's untrue.
If a 30 seater bus, that is only allowed to take 10 passengers, pulls up and there's 50 blokes trying to get to work .... .... oh dear
I find it difficult to believe the comments above since the broadcast, unless they are from people who are deaf, didn't watch it, or are taking the piss, 'cos Boris simply didn't say what's been suggested
