The only one really reliable is the excess death figure. Not much point throwing everything at minimising Corona deaths if you get a spike in otherwise avoidable deaths. Don’t think we’re doing too well on that either.

South Korea warning of second wave as their infection level rise after relaxing constraints on social gatherings ... who knew?

Metropolitan Police federation labels the Government response to the pandemic as 'wishy washy' ...

... and last but not least ... expecting we might be seeing our old mate HIAG again soon ... as this year's Dorset nob eating contest is set to become a live stream event ... :bandit:

think a lot of countries excess death figures will be interesting as the ones who claim hardly any Covid deaths will have some explaining to do plus only then will we see how many have actually died to to the effects of the pandemic .

Have slightly vague memories of seeing a report from Lombardy which had a mayor saying we normally have 40 deaths a month and the official figures are we had 90 Covid deaths yet 210 died last month so what happened to the other 80 . This sort of story seems common everywhere ..

*Note all figures used are representative as no way can i remember the actual figures quoted

This is what we should've got instead of a vacuous slogan .

We’ve still got over 600 people a day dying from it mate, now just isn’t the time to be lifting anything imo. The message should be stay the **** at home, and avoid congas in the street. <doh>

Matt Hancock throwing a hissy fit at Boris?

"Give me break!" Deltmown. Although maybe Boris should take him up on that offer.

Amazing how that private meeting made it into a double page in the Daily Heil eh?

He’s obviously going clean under the wheels of the bus - scapegoat ahoy.

    Yeh I wonder!

He's been inept and duplicitous so deserves it. I'd get Hunt in, he's the best of a mediocre bunch but I doubt Hancock will be changed just yet.

I’d take getting rid of your health minister mid-pandemic as an admission of failure but you’re probably right and it’ll be seen by more people as a sign that it would have all gone so much better had we had more ministers with the same skill as our PM.

Hunt isn’t a Boris advocate, he’s got no chance imo.

My old Tory MP is/was a doctor. Purged from the party unfortunately.

The stay home message has already fallen apart.

Now that genie is out of the bottle I don't see it being put back.

Too early to say they’ve either intentionally or unintentionally made a complete hash of it. Everyone needs to just not point fingers for at least a decade.

It’s only fallen apart as they’ve allowed it to.

The cynic in me thinks they’ve been deliberately briefing that restrictions will be lifted, so that people start doing their own thing again, and business starts planning to reopen, then tonight they’ll offer little in terms of tangible changes, but as you say, they’ve allowed the genie out the bottle. So when people start going back to work etc, they can claim it wasn’t orchestrated by them, if it goes pear shaped, it was merely the people’s will.......

I'm sure he would've looked a harmless bet when he was appointed. Billions allocated to NHS, gazillions of new hospitals, relatively dull, low key job... what could possibly go wrong?

May I just ask, as one of the thicko's who gets confused by the government messaging, what does staying alert actually mean?

Has the virus suddenly become visible and cloned itself into a @1.4 trillion ?
