The state of U.S. politics. 4 years and it looks likely the Democrats can't even find anyone half decent enough to kick this imbecile out of office. The calibre of politicians on both sides of the pond really is pretty **** atm.

I should have added that the state of Georgia, the first to reopen, has had a 40% increase in reported cases.
But theirs an election to win, for Trump it’s reliant on a strong economy, so what’s a few more bodies in the grand scheme of things.

14 day quarantine likely to come in for people arriving in the U.K. which was long overdue. A good move forward imo.

It'll be interesting to see if there's any overlap in the summer with some restrictions being eased and a few hoping to still make their hols abroad, if the quarantine measure is still in place whether it would then mean a week or two could turn into 3 or 4 in total?

At the end of the month. Only ten weeks or so late.

I was thinking it would be like they did in that hotel Milton Keynes at the start of the outbreak here, but with the volume it may be unmanageable.

Any idea how other countries have managed it?

I was watching Click on BBC this morning and there are a few countries in the far east who have automatic thermal imaging for ppl coming into premises etc. Whilst it doesn't tackle those who are symptomatic, it would still flag up potential cases at airports without the need for onerous individual temperature checks.

That’s the death of tourism and the airlines then.

The timing is also pure genius; a month ago, this would have made sense. Not sure there’s much point now, as we seem to be the most infected country in the world anyway (USA excepted).

Too little too late or better late than never? Don't know which but either way it's not great.

Really not sure why they didn't put it in place with the lockdown. It's not like there was going to be much more impact on business on tourism anyway. Probably down to logistics or lack of foresight considering the poor timing now.

I suppose if it keeps those countries like America who are rising massively it's still worthwhile. It might just make them (the orange one) think again about their haphazard coronavirus policy.

I actually thought they had imposed it in the early days of lockdown. I spoke to a friend in New York just before Easter; she was flying back to the UK and fully expected to be quarantined for 14 days. She was as surprised as I was to find this wasn't the case.

Think they had it in place earlier on if travelling in from the most affected countries but not sure how/if it was actually enforced.

Can't account for people's stupidity though, my sister had her MRI scan cancelled in March because somebody had travelled back from SE Asia on the Sunday and then rocked up for their appointment on the Monday.

It gets worse when you read through the comments and another video is posted of a woman in Bury convincing the neighbours to come out into the street for a sing song and one of them coughs and says “my throat is killing me today” - yeah and it’ll be killing your neighbours in two weeks time you dozy cow!

I know when I came back through Gatwick in early March they had signs up with the list of countries that if you were travelling from you had to take extra steps but it was literally A4 sheets of paper on doors and no-one was stopping to read them.

Sadly predictable though. It was blatantly obvious what was going to happen yesterday, sunny day, BH, flag waving and bucket loads of ale. Social distancing was always going to go out the window as the beer kicked in.

It certainly did in the sleepy little hollow I live in, ****ing idiots. I’ve just heard one of the partying neighbours walking past with her dogs, and coughing her guts up.

The amount of people asking to meet up and do stuff/go round their house or come to mine has gone up massively in the last couple of days.

Seems people are starting to want to venture out more, probably wrongly.

Also went to a big Tesco yesterday and there was nobody on the door monitoring people coming in/out and the 2m thing didn’t seem to apply in there

Love the subtitles on the TV screen there.
