So what have you had to cancel so far due to C-19? ive cancelled a holiday to Cyprus and one to Montenegro. work wise I’ve cancelled Athens, Warsaw, Frankfurt, Munich, Denmark and Eire. ffs
Just Portugal for me. I’ve got another one booked in September, hopefully this ****s over with by then.
None for me. I managed to get away just a couple of weeks before all this kicked off. Was then going to be looking at a long weekend away in June somewhere but hadn’t actually booked any where. Not a holiday as such but my nephew had to cancel his wedding just outside Glasgow two weekends ago which would have meant much partying. His friends threw a virtual online party instead.
Had a weekend in the lakes booked for end of this month. Managed to rebook it for August and they've chucked in breakfast for free. Luckily didn't have anything booked abroad
Centre Parcs was due in two weeks and is cancelled but we can have full refund or book for another time. We actually hadn't got around to sorting out the Summer, we've been abroad for a few years and were thinking about a holiday in the UK or Ireland anyway. That also may not be possible but nothing cancelled at least. Debating on next year. Now may be a good time to get good deals but it's also pretty risky as some of the providers may go out of business and if lockdown is still in place longer than expected then the knock-on effects could easily affect next year too. Currently sitting on our hands.
nothing, but was looking forward to July in Greece again for my 60th looks like sitting at home with my rug and hot chocolate
I was stopping at home. Only been abroad once in the last 19 years since we had kids. This year we're off to Barbados.
Was there last year. Went at the wrong time (early May) and it was a bit chilly, would love to go back when it's hot. Love the bait there too
late June early July August is too hot for me and the 'bait as you say is good for me also considering I'm Vegetarian
Was thinking early September next time, was told it's still nice then Veggie? What about all the moussaka, kleftico, souvlaki, gyros etc! Which part of Zante is best? Went to Alykanas last time
depends on what you want to do September is supposed to be hotter than June so you should be ok Alykanas has a decent beach size wise and a small fishing Harbour with a few restaurants and bars Alykes has a better beach but is smaller, we used to go for walks along the waters edge about 8pm just so peaceful Tsilivi has a bigger beach with plenty of water activities plenty of Bars and Restaurants Kalamaki has a long golden sand beach, but some of it might be cordoned off due to Turtles nesting plenty places to eat and drink depending on where you stay you could have a canny walk to the beach also the airport is right next to the main street Argassi has very little in the way of a sandy beach, you may have to get on the local free bus to get to another nearby but the restaurants are great with a few bars, defo if you want a quiet holiday with a little night life Laganas is where you go if you like the night life, long sandy beach but very populated with beach whales after drinking all night Zante Town is not bad if you want to stop and have a drink or ice cream down by the Harbour or get some good food outlets near Solomos Square
Went to the town on a bus trip last time, got some lovely food from a steakhouse type place then few drinks along the harbour was lovely Thanks a lot for the info, yeah Alykes was nice and just a short walk from Alykanas. I'd stay in Alykanas again actually, just a different hotel
Sitting by the Town Harbour looking at some of the yachts having a cool drink just chilling a lot depends on if you have kids in tow with you Alykes is good but at the far end is some salt flats which doesn't look that good and the small beach gets full up quite quick with sun loungers It was a little bit of a hike from Alykanas to Alykes, as I said we would walk down by the river/canal thing feeding the fish and cutting across the little dodgy bridge to Alykes
