But Boris more or less said, fook you, and is going to make a public announcement on Sunday. Hence the confusion caused leading up to a bank holiday.

All you've moaned about so far is what the tabloids are speculating on, nothing more. Actual government statements thus far say a very small lightening of restrictions at this stage. Pub beer gardens haven't been mentioned.

My guess is they’ve allowed their chosen press, who have it very much in their interests to end the lockdown, some info on options to gauge the mood a bit. It’s clear we aren’t in a position in terms of public health to be loosening our already half-hearted restrictions.
