Got Devs downloaded but haven't started it yet. Finally got around to watching BCS watched 4 episodes ,so far v good as expected.
Well worth it. Echoes of Westworld in there, without too much spoilers. Gangs of London - really enjoying it. Cromulent, indeed.
Watched the first episode of Gangs of London, a bit far fetched as the body count is already silly, but will watch episode 2 and see if it improves.
Really enjoying Devs now. Finished episode 6 last night. The science is solid and the content challenging. It won't be everyone's cup of Carling, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. 8/10
Tell me when you've seen it all. No spoilers for anyone else, but I had a similar question to ask at the end of Westworld. I'll ask when you've seen all.
Okay - which world is 'real'? (Spoiler alert) - if you end up in a simulation of this universe with a simulated quantum computer, if you can transfer consciousness from one to the other (not sure Penrose said that is possible), which one is real? Yeah, that woman could just turn the power off, but I think of Rarg, a cartoon where a sleeping made is carried into his dreams. Could 'we' end up being the simulation of the simulation 'we' created, as it were, and is this a cyclic explanation of creation? Especially if you can step out of a singular flow of time?
Penrose doesn't agree with the 'many worlds hypothesis' and as you know, he's not having genuine AI as he believes a computer can never work like a human brain.
I've always thought this with entanglement too - seen many propose that you will be able in the future, with quantum computing and entanglement, produce a matter transference machine like in the Fly (I saw Brian Greene contemplating one on Discovery once). My question is, if they replicate you atom by atom on the other side of the universe, how will your consciousness and memory be the same thing?
Btw, that was the other bit I was slightly confused by - how did they transfer their consciousness and memories into a simulation? Bit like Westworld (that I enjoyed tremendously otherwise, as well).
