Im sorry but as much as i liked Coleman as a person, his management style was shyte to me.
You cant tell me Maja turned into a good player overnight the moment we got relegated. He was always in our squad, but he constantly insisted on picking Fletcher as a lone striker in a shyte formation.

We actually got worse under Coleman and that took some doing. Vastly overrated.

Na, he needed some money for a goalkeeper and striker none was forthcoming, Short was in a huff...

Tbf he realised he ballsed up, then wrote off £100m for Donald in mitigation..

Sadly yet another manager who failed to make a positive impact on our once great club.

    .
We had Maja. He never got a sniff in the Championship, less than 2 years later he was at Bordeaux and now hes linked with Spurs and Chelsea.

Im sorry that is just bad managment in my opinion and lack of bottle from Coleman to pick a youngster. He could and probably would have made a huge difference in how many points we got if he'd been given a chance.

I agree with you about the Keeper situation, though

Everything he said is correct, I have lots of sympathy for him on that basis.

BUT he was inept at the basics. Can't train to defend corners? Bollocks. His team selection was often garbage even from what resources he had. There was no tactical ability there.

So he has some good points, it's definitely right that he feels aggrieved about it all, but he didn't do much to overcome the problems.

    He was a ****ing disaster.

That said, we’d have scraped up with a decent keeper.

Keepers were the reason we went down! (Coleman had a big hand in that of course). I don’t see the Maja situation the same. I don’t think he’d have kept us up. I think the only thing team wise which cost us we’re the keepers. We had 3 and I’d honestly put my 15 year only in front of any of them. And he plays up front and only goes in goal when the keeper isn’t available!

Im not saying Maja would have kept us up, but he would certainly have strengthened the team if he was selected and given a chance.
We were guaranteed to leak goals every game we played with the Keepers we had, so we needed goals and Fletcher couldnt hit a barn door.

Conservatively goalkeeping cost us 8-10 points that season. Reality is probably more.

There was an article which analysed it and said the, directly as a result of keeping we lost over 20 points (that was a keeper made a mistake at a point when we would have gained points and we lost or drew by that goal!
