6K per day for all soldiers average

On the1st day of the Somme we had 19K killed UK troops
on average the UK lost near 3k per day on the Somme offensive

Over the full war it was about 478 UK soldiers per day (1568 days in all)

 

I think you may be right for under 40s

of course it exists........in what capacity compared to other flu`s i dont know but i certainly will never go on official figures which are all over the shop for a reason.
