    Nowt wrong in putting stuff out there, as long as it don't become obsessive and you fail to look beyond your own reasoning. I've not expressed a view on his rant in that video, there are too many eqausions to add up, before I could do that. They would be;

    Who is he
    What did he say
Is the source quoting it acurrately
    When did he say it
Does the source of information differ from others
    What are those differences
    What's his political stance
How does that affect is opinion
How much time has lapsed since he said
    Why did he say
    What has been said since
    Has his opinion changed since
Is there any factual evidence to back up any claims
Is he away with the fairies
I could sit here and write this list all fooking day!

Where your stance is you see pixies down the bottom of your magical garden ;)

He was very good when he was coming through as a promising keeper and looked the business. Got to keep in mind this was when we had the likes of Seaman in a an Arsenal team that was very solid at the back. James went to Liverpool and didn't seem to cope well with being under scrutiny every time he made a mistake, this was no better with England. His head seemed to go, and his confidence, and he just wasn't as good as he had been. In his later years though he became more reliable (think his mental toughness was just a bit better) and gained England recalls and showed himself to be a very capable keeper.

He mostly gets remembered for his dodgy period though. Harshly if you ask me, that's the problem with being a keeper I guess!

So how do governments weigh the cost in lives against the economic costs? Because at some point they're all going to have to. And it's no good saying you can't put a price on a life, because lost livelihoods come at great cost too.

It seemed a strange rant, it catches my curiosity. Out of interest, are you aware/knowledgeable of any political swaying behind his comments or would you suggest, it's more a personal opinion based on no evidential fact or foundation?

Edit; before aberdude jumps in, by curiosity, I mean, I'm intrigued to what makes people think particular ways, not intrigued that he could be telling the truth. In short it came across a bit fruit loopy.

The guy has his fingers in many pies, is a Forza Italia mp, newspaper editor, mayor and art critic. Hard to know whether there's political motivation. I'd say it's his own personal opinion.

btw, slightly off-topic. have you ever seen this

I don't doubt that we are living through a crisis of capitalism. But that doesn't answer the question about lost lives vs lost livelihoods.

Yeah, I noted his political history etc, I'm with you in agreement that it is more a personal opinion he holds.

He does seem to change his political affiliations as they suit him so he's a bit of a maverick.

You're pretty open-minded and unbiased on this Covid topic brb, whether you vote tory or not. It's just a shame you have to say you vote tory to be considered unbias on here by some (not the poster you were talking to either). But therein lies the problem.
