It's all the same whether Donald stays or the club is sold ...

... it's all been handled extremely poorly and looks an absolute shambles.

Even those people who believe, 100%, there was never any possibility of a takeover have to accept the BBC, Fanzines, Ross, etc were told something else and by someone they thought credible.

Donald should've done something he easily manages, when it suits him, and kept his mouth shut.

If there was a possible takeover he would have only broadcast the 'news' to elicit other offers.

If there wasn't why did he keep dropping hints, presumably for exactly the same reason.

Despite his rhetoric I don't believe he has any love for the club ...

... he's in it for the money and the club comes a poor second in my opinion.

It was a definite takeover, too many people saying things and not once knocked back by the club. Even the owner saying he wasn’t sure if they wanted him to stay on

So were the take over dates of Feb then May a lie, or is it bring said this year for certain? ffs.

ps. What is the reason for the delay if DD is done, and is the price still not agreed because of Donald?

Imho, the only point I would bet on is that Donald does not have the funds to bankroll us for next season.

If a sale does not happen to richer owners we are going to find it very difficult to climb out of this turd division, as outgoings will be trimmed to the bone, ie crap players.

Unless a miracle happens and we play and win all of our remaining fixtures this season and get promoted...I doubt even I would even put a couple of quid on that outcome!

    1st paragraph, YES!

2nd one, I think he was in it for the glory, (yeah I know, shurrup), a chance of being a prem league club owner etc.
    Now tho, not so sure
Does he really want to get out or does he think he's been unlucky & has the ability to get us up?
Is he a fighter, a quitter, a sulker, spiteful?
    Was he prepared for the
    footballness (?) of the area?
Will this kill his football dream?
Am I, as per, talking bollocks cos I'm in a car park & bored?

This is exactly what I've been saying for months :D If this is what you believe, then I agree. There were lots of reasons for him to drop hints or not clarify the situation that was assumed until the deal was over the line.

He's usually quite clever to make sure he doesn't get caught completely lying in public.

The owner said in December that they never made an offer to buy the club. That's such a categorical statement that I find hard to ignore, because publicly lying in a pejorative manner about people who have a potential legal route to divesting you of your assets is a bad idea.

Particularly if your long term aim is convincing them to actually do that.

Just listened to the wise men say podcast and a little snippet on there that they were told by the owners to ramp up the pr to get the fans excited about the take over. First time that had been mentioned. The latest version where they are really digging into the owners, righty so in my opinion.

There's just a massive difference in context though. One was not on the BBC in direct answer to a question 'did they ever make a bid to own the club'. The other was not in a recorded interview that I'm aware of.

That's what I'm saying, there was no room for ambiguity in what he said in December. He said something that if it weren't true, would completely annihilate his relationship with them. Why do it? We know that he needs them, we know that his ideal is to sell to them. There's no logic that says he went on the radio and lied so brazenly when his best hope was and still is to get them to give him more money.

Another thing that Donald said was that he didn't change the price that he wanted. Could the two statements be related?

Maybe there was extra money due to him if we got promoted to the Championship. Donald could have changed the goalposts and asked for this to be paid ahead of time (last September/October) to make the deal go through.

That way it's true that he didn't change the price. But he did change the timeline / conditions that the increased price would be paid.

That's crossed my mind that the owners had ulterior motives for stoking up the takeover excitement.

I think it's been alluded to before actually.

I think the one thing you're right on is that there would have been creativity involved on all fronts and there are likely clauses and options that were discussed and never acted upon, as is normal.

What I believe though, is that this is just that - a creative way for FPP to get first dibs on us if we ever get back to where we should be. In the charge it details FPP's option to convert some or all of the $12m investment into shares. They may very well buy the rest of the shares at that point if they are so inclined - I hope so. To do that they would have to agree a market value for those shares with Donald.

In doing so, they would have effectively agreed that the club was worth £XXm. I think based on what has been said, that Donald tried to convince them to simply buy us outright, rather than their method which carries a lot of risk for Donald and none for them.

That's my belief based on what is in the public domain, may very well be wrong, but I think it will be very close to this.

It's all very well for people to ridicule WMS, fanzines, etc but they didn't just make things up ...

... if FPP vanish ALS should present the Dell T-shirts to Donald at the next match.
