Posted one snippet of information I’d heard from an actual expert, that I knew didn’t conform to the Not606 Politicians rule book and look at the 4 people who jumped on it <laugh>

You know it would have been five if the flouncing **** hadn’t left.

    STFU Tobes.

Boris seems to be owning up on this "... the epidemic in care homes is something I bitterly regret." Fair play. <ok>

I wouldn’t really call that owning up to it. Maybe I’m just being pedantic.

I didn’t even include you... I think you’re normally quite reasoned.

The 4 crying posters definitely jumped, there was evident butthurt.

PMQs seems pretty tame from the bbc live feed, haven’t got the TV on to watch though. So can’t comment on whether he seems to be “taking a battering” as you don’t get the atmosphere from the written version!

Starmer cutting through the bullshit re negative comparison to the rest of Europe ...

" ... the answer is that the UK was slow into lockdown, slow in testing, slow on tracing and slow on the distribution of PPE"

No argument to any of that tbf ... we abandoned tracing back in March and the testing levels are still coming up short of the Government announced target ... which they have now gone and doubled to 200,000 <doh>

Isn’t it a good thing to aim for more tests?

Absolutely ... but we've failed to hit 100,000 for how long now?

Need to know what we are going to do now in practical terms to hit the doubling target ...

For me it is imperative that all care home residents and carers get tested without further delay ... residents with it should then be transferred to the Nightingales or regular hospitals

I’d really like to know why mass testing wasn’t deemed to be appropriate for us when it was advised by the WHO a couple of months back. It’s a genuinely decent effort to get up to 70-80k tests daily now even if the intentional fudged number on one day was a propaganda exercise. It shouldn’t have had to have been such a steep ‘ramping up’.

I think the volume of possible tests helps naturally to do more tests. Presumably because it’s about where tests are available and how people get access to them. For example last time I saw an article about Germany’s testing they were carrying out about 50% of their total capacity. So it seems normal that the capacity for tests isn’t necessarily hit but that having more available in more places will lead to higher test numbers. So far the plan seems to be opening more drive through test centres across the country as well as increasing home testing kits.
