People are perfectly entitled to have an opinion based on the information currently available, the comparison figures are being put out there daily by our own Govt.

Given this Govt set out a different strategy to most other nations back in March and announced it as such, then it’s bound to be scrutinised in comparison. The most notable difference seems to be with Germany, and based on the information available you surely have to conclude that they’ve done a better job of it?

    Banned for talking btw?

I was banned for talking on the last politics thread. You can disprove it if you like, or just accept that I was (thread) banned for talking.

People can do whatever they want, and I can call bullshit on it because their sets of data are fundamentally flawed. Innit.

Not by me you weren’t and the thread has been gone for what, 5 months? Whatever.

I get it, you just want to say the data is wrong, so there’s nothing to see here. Again, whatever.

Stop crying. I just mentioned that an actual expert was discussing something that I found interesting. God forbid it doesn’t fit with your narrative. God forbid I don’t spend my ENTIRE life moaning about politicians on a football forum.

I didn’t say you banned me either <ok>

"We seem to be in a cluster with France, Spain and Italy, what you can say is the outliers, the countries with much lower death rates are Germany, South Korea, Taiwan those kind of places. The real question is are we putting in place the strategies that those countries have?"

"The government have been absolutely clear they've been guided by the science, following the science is the phrase, but when they publish their decisions we can't see what the scientific advice was that SAGE has been given. So one of the things I asked Matt Hancock today is whether he could publish the SAGE advice he's given at the same time he announces the decisions that he makes. And I think the reason for that is very often the scientific advice is not cut and dried."

    Jeremy Hunt just yesterday.

He's been far more critical in "his tone" in the past, but his comparisons and questions are exactly what many have raised on here. His first point is about the difference between the groups/clusters of the worst countries and those which are the most effective. There's really nothing to argue with there, and we're in the group which is considered the worst. His second point really is about hiding behind the science which we don't get to see and tbh borders on scapegoating the scientists.

I accept that there may be differences in the way that the numbers of fatalities are reported ... but I don't think the data is 'fundamentally flawed' ... the numbers still represent deaths by country since the pandemic started and also numbers testing positive ... in each case the majority of those deaths will be in hospitals... and there appears to be correlation between the quantum of deaths compared to the number of tests undertaken ... which is very evident in the German numbers <ok>

The air’s clearer in London too, in fact it’s probably more noticeable here. Plus the birdsong is way louder than I can ever remember it. Saw three goldfinches earlier today, on the TV ariel opposite, and shortly after that, 5 starlings landed one after another.

Slim pickings for the pigeons though. They’re used to feasting on kebab meat and puddles of sick outside pubs, they must be wondering what’s hit them.

Like for Like data isn’t being compared, simple data is being compared. That’s it. Cool.

Crying? The dummy chucking appears to yours, hence the reason you’ve gone straight for the victim narrative and rattling on about narratives for me having the temerity to reply to your post.
