I cant believe some of the stuff I've read on this forum today. Fans criticising the manager, Jay Bothroyd and there is also a thead on the poor performance and lack of commitment from our new captain Joey Barton. I head someone shout "get off Bothroyd, you're sh*t" coming from above me in the ground yesterday. This sort of talk is absolute nonsence and I cant believe how anyone can even begin to criticise after the last 15 years we have had! Warnock is the best manager we have had for 15 years - Fact! Bothroyd is the best Centre forward we have had for 15 years - Fact! Barton is the best Captain we have had for 15 years - Fact! Like the title suggests, get a grip!!
There's no way Bothroyd is better than DJ,let alone Gallen and Furlong!! As for Barton being the best captain,that's absurd he's only been captain for 3 games!!
Warnock - agreed, best manager for over 15 years. Both - jury's out, but I've certainly seen enough to give him a helluva chance. Don't think he'll be a 20, 15 or even 10 goal a season man though, so we'll have to look elsewhere for that, hopefully Campbell Barton does fade out of a game for short periods, but he's fantastic at other times, and I wouldn't be without him as a player or as captain
QPRSAM may be getting carried away with his facts the sentiment is correct, Jay is working hard as the target man,his hold up play is superb Joey had an off day yesterday but is still class,some of our fans appear to have short memories
Quite the opposite Peter,we all have long memories,hence saying that Jay is the best striker we've had in the last 15 years,is totally unfounded!
If you look back at the threads following good results,many of them are wildly exuberant and insanely optimistic, like Europe anyone? and top 6 finish, and when we get a disappointing one like Villas we begin to navel-gaze and question everything. I think it's called bi-polar and we're going to see a lot of it this season.
Well said Sam, w9, & Peter, I must admit to going off this board a little because of the type of remarks on here and Hammersmith Peter clearly refered to the sentiment of the original post, lighten up for god's sake. Can we please remember that our target this is 17th and at the moment we are well above this if you rationalise your expectations you will find that you will more content and we may even do better with a bit of luck!!
Ok, if you want to argue that Furlong and Gallen in their best days were better than Bothroyd fine. Fulong played his best football for us in League 1 for god sake and Gallen was never the player most of us thought he was after that injury. And Barton - yes he has been captain for only three games but in terms of talent and commitment and infulence in the game we have had none greater. Who better then? Bignot? For god sake!!
We got to get behind the team at games, give 100% very loud support, even when the players are having a bad day. Comments like Sam describes, and the rubbishing like Wolves "fans" gave their own against us, makes it only harder to win games. In the main, we are playing fantastic now, 9th in the PL after 6 games seems a good reason for an extra beer or three, rather than focus on hole picking where everything isn't going totally right!!!!! Leave that to NW on the training ground.
Sam i don't want to get into a slanging match with you mate,but how many top flight goals has Bothroyd scored?I for one hope he scores plenty for us this season,but in my view he ain't better than the 2 i've mentioned.
Oslo mate,i've been to every away game so far this season,giving my vocal support to the limit.Indeed i have been doing it for many years,and all i'm giving you is my opinion.I am not having a go at any player or any poster,so lighten up yourself mate!
Good evening all you Rangers fans, Me again! All I have to say is it seams like `Deja Vu` again. Re; the game on Sunday, just one more Newcastle thing, Yes?? As all ways we should have won by a canter but not! So as I have said before the season on BBC606 before it went pear shap our club would have to spend at least £50,000,000 to make sure we stayed up. Spent about £12,000,000 so far, not good enough as we need a Top class goal scorer and they cost around £15 to 20,000,000! Look at Rooney and some of the others? I think the boys did all OK on Sunday but must toughen up and put them selfs about more , played some very good football but let Villa back in the game. And lastly, I thought Hall did well and no worse then some of the others who did not turn up! I read some where that SWP had a bad game because our pitch was too small for him to run about and play his game like at Wolves! Well I think he must be told in fact that our pitch is one of the larger in this Div; just looks small! OK thats it then! And man of the match was our little `Arab! Oh! can not say that can I due to the PC mob running this thing, naughty me! smack, smack!!
