Just watching Paul Hollywood in Japan and got me thinking about the 9/11 debate on here earlier ... just showed a panoramic of Hiroshima after the bomb... flattened 5 sq miles and killed half of the city's population ... 140,000 people died ... ****ing hell <yikes>

I was watching him try the Tofu before I switched over lol. It looked rank tbf.

I didn't see the part on Hiroshima. The number who lost their lives is only part of the story sadly. Those who survived and the effect afterwards on them, bloody hell.

You'd do it mate, coz you have no choice really ... the first 2 weeks after were undeniably rough... I came round to find a towel rolled and wrapped in tape on the bed. Nurse told me that it was normal to develop a cough after due to all the anaesthetic and gunk that doesn't drain (had 3 drains all under the sternum) ... the towel was because they tell you that you must cough it up ... the towel is for you to hug to your chest to cushion the force and limit the pain ... used a large sofa cushion once I got home ... the morphine helps but, by Christ it is ****ing painful <laugh>

Respect mate and I'm glad you made it through it all ok <ok> I have personal experience of someone who had a tumour the size of a tennis ball in a cavity directly behind the heart. At first they thought the shooting pains in the legs were sciatica until properly diagnosed. They had to do a biopsy and went in through the back. I saw the pain afterwards and coincidentally when coughing. And that was just a biopsy. So I can appreciate what you're describing must be the worst thing ever. And knowing everytime you're about to cough, what's coming!

Yes mate. Not heart surgery but major open surgery with a 15” permanent reminder.
I picked up a chest infection after the op, and remember the taped up rolled towel far too well.....horrendous, truly ****ing horrendous.

I raise my glass of a nice Italian red to you sir ... it is difficult to describe how it feels but those that have been there will never forget those aspects, for sure ... you also wonder of you'll ever get your strength back ... thinking of Joe now ... but you do ... and you also learn to appreciate all the little things in life that you probably took a bit for granted <cheers>

Has it been diagnosed as sciatica?

If it's affecting your feet, that can be a slipped disc.
