I'm claiming a rigged vote. There's a letter in today's HDM telling us the person who ran the vote can't be contacted, and asking, as it was a public vote, for a breakdown of the 55,000 votes. More damning is the fact the letter writer claims to have voted multiple times.

I'm pretty sure, and I mentioned it here before, you could vote multiple times, as many as you wanted. Joke vote, and not a sensible outcome. Should have been Billoca or Wilberforce. If it's a tainted vote I hope someone does something about it.

We've all heard of Queen Vic Bogs.

Why don't us locals just christen it Jock Doc Bridge.

You're right it was a dodgy vote but Wilberforce and Bilocca are worthy of more than a bridge. Anyway, Wilberforce has a statue already.

A little street in the arse end of Kingswood is not a fitting tribute.

They could justifiably rename Hessle Road after her.

They could rename the shopping centre on Hessle Rd after her. "Billocca Shops" has a certain ring to it, and if a bigger block of shops ever gets built along there, the original's ready made to change to the Lil Bilocca Shops. <ok>

I read that Wykeland have bought M&S, HMV and New Look buildings in Whitefriargate. Have they a decent track record for doing stuff or might they mothball them for years, or even both?

Wykeland, in my experience, seem to put much more value on good relations with their neighbours than other certain well known local property firms. They’re part of the Humber Street development too. IMHO it’s a good sign if they’re buying up Whitefriargate.

Nobody buys 100,000 sq ft of retail space to mothball, it could be a good move if the turn-around if Whitefriargate comes off, they’ve definitely bought at the bottom of the market.
