I just cant see how schools, especially primary schools stand any chance of maintaining social distancing either before, during or after school.

Loads of kids at my sons school need to catch buses to get there and every class has 25 to 30 kids crammed in

Hmm I wonder how many parents/grandparents are going to be keen to send the children to school...I for one am not keen...at the moment the family is fine. Royal Mail has my son working at home (he lives with us +kids) and the children are being home schooled...why risk it...

Sadly various countries are 'guinea-pigging' to see what happens ...

... and equally sadly there's little other choice.

A vaccine, or a cure, could be many months away and we can't just sit around waiting.

All we can do is allow important businesses, etc, to restart and hope for the best.

Personally going back in june seems pointless, it's only for a few weeks before end of term and summer hols. Imho I would wait till the autumn term starts ,end of august/ start of September

They've had 6 weeks off plus the economy needs to get back on track sooner rather than later

We won't have an economy to gan back to

Spot on, we take our grandkids in the car 3 miles to their primary/nursery school, but a load of children get bussed in from another nearby village. You cannot stop young kids getting nits(we had that just before the lockdown started) nevermind Coronvirus which spreads like the flu
Let's see if William and Kate send their children to school and what the other private schools do.

I guess if schools do go back then my parents still won't be allowed to see the kids as the chances will increase massively

One of the other measures been touted

Family & friends of 10 people can start to mingle as long as social distancing is observed

Try explaining that to my disabled daughter who has no concept of personal space at the best of times, let alone when she hasnt physically seen or hugged her nanny and grandad for 6 weeks.

Quite a depressing thought that in relaxing restrictions it will likely mean its even harder for my family.

Sorry that reads as incredibly selfish.

Adults are allowed 1 hour of exercise per day between the hours of 6-10am and 8-11pm and it is strictly enforced, if people are seen to be adhering to the new rules more easing will come online gradually. If the infection rate starts to go upward again any easing will be reversed. In the UK you already have more freedom of movement than we do here.

Germany gradually reopens as death rate slows
The re-opening of churches is the latest easing of Germany's full lockdown restrictions in place since 22nd March.
Last week, German authorities said playgrounds and cultural institutions such as museums and zoos would be given the green light to re-open.
It still remains a gloomy picture for hotels and restaurants though. Chancellor Angela Merkel has said that the federal and state governments will not make a decision on the hospitality industry at their next meeting on 6th May, but instead focus on further relaxing the rules for schools, childcare centers and sports facilities.
Germany's death toll rose by 74 to 6,649 in figures released on Sunday, while the number of confirmed coronavirus cases increased by 793 to 162,496, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed.

In my opinion, UK figures for Covid deaths (621) and new cases (4806) need to reduce by a factor of 10 before we even consider opening up again.

Absolute lunacy if they think they can ease off now, as you say figures have to be at least 10 times smaller than that. We are on a plateau which will last for a while before we see the numbers coming down to those levels. Ease off now and the figures will be back up to about 1,000 deaths a day within a fortnight.

Totally agree - I have just been for a walk family of three coming towards me on the pavement three abreast. There was no attempt made by any of them to keep their distance from me. It was as if social distancing did not exist. Yesterday there was a man and woman out jogging coming towards me. Did they come passed me one behind the other to keep distance - no the woman passed me on my left at the same time as the man passed on the right. I just give up

I think this is a mad idea - opens it up for a free for all . Say I had a wife and two kids , and 2 brothers each with a wife and one kid . There’s your ten nominated people . Do I tell the missus that we’re not including her sisters and families, parents ? Or do we just create a new list of ten tomorrow . And some will just have 9 different friends every day .

Any thoughts on here when the UK pubs will be allowed open? I've seen read of different views and opinions the news and social media. I realise it's all speculative at this time. I'm interested in different viewpoints.

I'm certainly not interested in Tim Martins opinion lol.

I'm hoping/guessing it's going to be the last of the public venues to get the Go-ahead by this Gov.

Just for the simple reason that it'd be impossible to maintain any kind of social distancing!

I thinking it may well be late Winter time maybe Christmas or next year? Even though I'll have a huge task of re-establishing myself as a gigging (pub) musician I certainly will not want to jeopardise myself or any of my band-mates. Or indeed having to cope with drunk lasses screaming play 'Sex on Fire' into my face
