Top football is doing nothing for its image if the Premier League goes ahead - already it has alienated itself from the real fans and if we now have the scenario where the Liverpool's and the Chelsea's of this World have special rulings for them whereas the clubs of eg. the Southern League don't then the elite will continue to alienate themselves. So all those millions still in lockdown will be able to watch while top football enjoys a privilege which nobody else has !
We know that players in the EPL are scattered around world having gone to their home countries when the league was shut down. As they fly back into the country, assuming they can catch a flight, will they be checked at the airport? We know the answer to that one. Currently there is no 14 day quarantine ruling, although it has been talked about. There has been talk about immigrants crossing the Channel and bringing fresh infections with them, yet the Home Secretary acknowledged that many had arrived and just disappeared. An airport should be a place where you can check people even if there is little way you can close your borders. Are the government seriously worried that if the season is finished there will be riots in the streets?
Well they seem worried there will be fans on the streets celebrating if they do finish it - ie Liverpool fans! What a lot of moaning from their fans about the prospect of the season not finishing .. You 'd think this was their one and only chance to win the title and it will never come around again. From a club who has a song about their 96 fans they did lose going to a football match. You'd think they might have sympathy with those who have lost loved ones and understand why the season cannot continue...yet.
Truth is they don't care how many as long as they get their trophy The alleged Liverpool fans on the main PL site only care about one thing the trophy, preferably after completion of the season so they dont have a footnote against the Premier League title
Whatever happens though... I believe the title must be given to Liverpool A great unpretentious city, great manager, great football this season.. If very lucky at times... And the people in Liverpool are in the main great people.. (apart from the idiot who stole my bike from my flat by prince's gate in 1975!)
Will they get booked if they throw their mask into the crowd on scoring a goal - definately by the polis.
I presume this includes us ? Not really sure what the point would be of the season if most of the games didn't matter though. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52517532
Well according to Sky all games next season might be behind closed doors so might have to get use to it!
A pointless exercise IMO.... well i realise the pun I have just made!..... But for a club like Watford.... the only sane option is to void the season....If we were to get relegated under some attempt to play out games ... we would rue it...
https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co...ouness-watford-warning-premier-league-4101978 Souness spells it out really
Even fans of teams not in relegation trouble admit if they were in that position they'd be saying the same thing! Including Palace fans who are hardly friends of us or Brighton!
Games to be stream on YouTube? https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/...planit&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_content=22278 See to remember people complaining the quality wasn't very good and it kept buffering?
I noticed Horse racing might be back soon as next week! Govt seem keen for that and football to return the most .. Nothing to do with the fact it's the 2 sports people gamble bets on the most I am sure ..
Q: Why was Atletico Madrid v Liverpool match allowed to go ahead in Liverpool on 11 March when it would not have been allowed in Spain? Harries says that was not a decision for the chief medical officers. Clearly the government gave the go-ahead for it to take place, and now we see that Liverpool and the area around Cheltenham where the horse racing was allowed to go ahead are two of the hotspots for the virus.
It's now official that the remaining games in the Bundesliga will be played from the weekend of 16th/17th May with the proviso that it is completed before the 30th of June, and behind closed doors. It now has the official approval of Angela Merkel, after consultation with the baronage (meaning the minister presidents of the German states). Needless to say there is a lot of criticism from representatives of other sports, who can't understand why football alone has this central stage. Still harder for the normal public who have to keep 2 metres distance from each other until June 5th !
Well it's quite interesting that football and horse racing seem to coming back first .. The 2 most popular spots for betting ! So the Government can make money from the gambling .
I notice they say its to boost morale and cheer people up. Well it might do if someone basically does nothing else all day but what if your team starts to lose? You aren't exactly going to get West Ham fans saying oh well at least the football is back if they get relegated! Or if a team slips out of the Champions league spots.
