RvP has been loyal to the club and vice versa. Naturally he is looking for some reassurances from the club that it means to continue at the top with a desire to win trophies. What self-respecting sportsman would be happy to be a journeyman? I hope this makes the club re-evaluate it's policies and not simply rely on an untried set of rules ( FFP ) to get us to the top. If we lose RvP ( and I'm not saying we will ), it will be yet another indicator that we have fallen further away from the sharp end of the game. To climb back up again will take years.
I think a few are running away with themselves here. Just because Nasri chased the Riyal, Rupel or whatever currency they get their millions in up there doesn't mean RVP is about to do the same, 2 years is a long time and I think he's right in saying that the best time to talk is when the season is over. I'm sure he'll sign a new contract before next season starts
Van Persie obviously wants to see where the club is going before committing his future to the club! there's no dounting that he loves the club but he is a world class player who will want to be playing for one of the best teams in the world and if Arsenal aren't going to be one of those then he will not necessarily want to move on but need to!!
Welcome to the Arsenal board You're right. I think the club has to commit to him as well. It's a two-way street. Arsenal has to appreciate that getting the things right off-pitch will not work out in the long run if deficiencies on-pitch are not addressed. So bringing in another couple of potential match-winners will restore a lot of stability to the team and help keep some of our key players.
Not happening ever. Not in a trillion years. Besides the fact they have way to many attackers/strikers already added to the fact every signing city have made since the summer will now count in FFP calculations means city are well and truly ****ed. City know it, they want the PL before they fold. ****s.
To be honest, i think everyone knows deep down inside the truth but don't want to see it. If recent activities are to go by with Nasri, Clichy and Cesc, its pretty obvious that RVP is getting ready himself to do the same. He is saying what all the other recent leavers and fellow supporters have been saying. Where is the investment into the squad? It's ok to get youth and very good but not world class players to stay in a team that isn't competing or winning anything, but world class players like RVP want to win things. We all see the lack of investment and world class players coming into the squad. When was the last time someone came in? Arshavin? That wasn't so much investing into the squad to win, it was more out of desperation to get 4th place champions league. We really can't afford to lose RVP, if we do then any of our players who reach a certain high-level will want to leave. Guaranteed, if we don't show more ambition, then players like Wilshere will definately leave, and that in a year or 2.
Tevez is on his way out but even if he wasn't, they can afford anyone and just have then sweeping the changing rooms if they want. It's because they CAN.
You will find they cant I am afraid. What you will find is if City think they can take the piss out of players or try and make a mockery of the new FFP rule city will simply be put right back in their place. FFP rules are aimed at clubs like City and Chelsea and while chelsea have made attempts to comply City have made no effort. Citys other problem is they are worthless to Uefa. As far as they are concerned Man City may aswell not exist so if this nothing club thinks it can do as it pleases then let it. I am millions of others will be laughing all the way.
Personally, I'm sure Van Persie is going to go to Man City. He's going to go there on the 17th December and score a double hat trick, thus signalling the beginning of the end of City's title aspirations. Then he's going to go back to London on the Arsenal team coach. Trust me, it'll happen
