The Premier League started in 92-93 so the likes of Dave Thomas and Mick Leach were long retired. As Rangers fans we rightly have an adoration of Alan MacDonald but great as he was for us, he would never have got into atop six starting XI. Sir Les was an absolute banker, no idea how that never happened but Taarabt, genius that he was/is would never have got there either. In the "wastin" years we signed a good many that had but they certainly never looked like it when playing for us. I thought Loic Remy was good enough but he never really sparkled at Chelsea. Where is he now?
Lille since 2018, played 46 and scored 14 according to wiki. Another player who probably moved to a club that was slightly too good for them, (Chelski) and so was wasted sitting on the bench for three years (32 games and 8 goals between 2014-2017). Speaking of players we had high hopes for who disappeared, Parejo and Ledesma spring to mind too. Both loans I think but I enjoyed watching them play.
Dani Parejo is a star at Valencia and on the fringes of the Spanish national team, we only had him on loan.
For the first 6 or 7 seasons the greatest league in the world was a fairly open competition a bit like the old first division when every side had a chance of it being "their year"...…..it's only since the early 00's when money took over and teams started to buy their way to the title that it's become as boring as hell, apart from the Leicester season, it's all so predictable. In a way maybe this virus is the very thing needed to bring everyone to their senses re money and wages etc....
Never forget first watching him playing for Lens on French TV and thought wow. He then got linked to Arsenal and I told my mate that he was a special player. I couldn’t believe it when we got him and knew he would score goals. West Ham and Saints away class finishes. Only downer was that scum move to sit on the bench.
He was so raw at the time for the ****cunt Championship but ran the game away at Villa in the League Cup. Amazing the lack of career Ledesma had in comparison.
No evidence to back this up but reading between the lines I think Ledesma may have had an "attitude" problem
