I don’t think people are so much inpatient with the deal, I keep saying “we’ve waited 13 years why not a week or two longer?” It’s more so that the longer it goes on the more doubt it puts in people’s heads.

If takeovers hadn’t been previously mentioned I wouldn’t be sceptical one bit about it. But we’ve been in this situation of “being bought” so many times, it’s hard to adjust your mindset to being confident. I know 100% even those who are sure it’s done will have at least 0.00001% of fear it won’t happen. Nothing is 100% with this club, everyone who supports Newcastle know it.

If contracts have been exchanged then the period of exclusivity is a red herring. Contracts, if exchanged, would likely have been conditional upon the PL giving approval under the “so long as you aren’t Genghis Khan” test. In that situation only if Staveley & Co fail that test will Ashley be able to deal with anyone else.

I don’t know but that is my educated guess on the basis it is accepted that the PL are looking at the deal and the Buyers.

 

Way back when when I was “courting” my wife to be my now mother in law gave me a half pint of brandy to drink whilst I was waiting for wife to be to finish getting ready before we went out for the night as no-one in their house drank it and she she wanted it used up before it went off.

We know the government are keen to support this but won't get involved in the process - investment into the North helps the governments 'levelling up' agenda.

But they can't be seen to get involved.

Although there's nothing I can see that would represent a legal concern to the Premier League process, they need to be so comfortable they've followed every step.

There will be so much scrutiny on this that the Premier League will face a lot of hostility if they missed something. Coupled with the remote working, you can see why the process is taking so long.

There is nothing we can do so not worth getting worried. Let's see how it plays out
