Not so sure about that, considering what happened the last time their owners played an away game in Turkey...

The right decision on sporting merit even if over a hundred years late!

Arsenal's fate decided by off field subterfuge. Now there is justice - albeit very late

Edit - what PS said (always the bridesmaid)

Eredivisie season cancelled. No title for Ajax. No relegation/ promotion.

    Your move, FA.

Be interesting to see if anyone follows suit. Frankly I’m beginning to doubt there will be any European football next season anyway so the whole issue of ‘sporting merit’ deciding who gets CL/EL is probably immaterial anyway.

Putting aside that some obscenely rich men will miss out on a few bob, it's the only possible decision for the PL...and always has been.

I can't see it. They'll scrub the end of the season, give the title to Liverpool and allocate the European places.
Scouse, City, Leicester and Utd for the CL, assuming City's ban stands.
Wolves, Sheffield Utd and Arsenal for the Europa.
Relegation for Norwich, Villa and Bournemouth, though they might dodge that or fudge it a bit.

If they relegate or dish out CL places with quarter of the season to go I can see all hell breaking out with **** loads of legal challenges.

The ONLY sane thing to do is void the season and stop all European club football until 21-22 season.

But there is not a chance in hell of that happening.

Some common sense and straight thinking applied by the Dutch here, yes it is unfair on a handful of clubs, but it would be unfair on many many more clubs if their season was concluded in any other way.

This decision limits damage to an absolute minimum and is the correct course of action for the vast majority.

They should also be cancelling next season`s European competitions, the early stage Europa qualifying starts in July if I am not mistaken, so having no CL or EL next season solves the problems of fairly deciding qualification and eliminates risk surrounding staging European games around Europe.

You can bet the money men will have other ideas though.

    You can’t do that.

Some teams have easier fixtures than others and have already played Liverpool twice while others still have to play them.

The only fair thing is to scrub the season.

I agree they should scrub the season, but I agree with PNP that they won't.

In terms of Europe with the exception of Liverpool and City no one has qualifed by right yet. As others have said the qualifiers are due to start soon, but lets be fair thats not where the money is and in the end that will be the main driver for some form of major European competition. But there is no really fair way of deciding who should take part.

My suggestion is that all European leagues should be abandoned at this point - If individual associations decide award league titles based on current positions and the assocaited prize money then thats fine too. But as for Europe I would have a single season with no Champions league no Europa, but in its place have a one off competition that sees all previous winners of a European club competition invited to take part so that UEFA have matches that can be played over the normal 3 nights and that satsify the needs of TV. I know that it would appear hugely unfair on Leicester and Sheffield United who would probably have had European football to look forward but not a great deal more unfair than awarding the places based on an incomplete season.

So clubs lose the advantage of home games against rival teams in relegation or European place battles.
So much for the integrity of the league being paramount.

I think there’s a big worry that finishing the season like this would set a precedent, yes. I don’t want the PL to go that way. They’re already playing games outside the country in Spanish football. So it’s a major consideration in England too.
