Does there come a point in time where you start to think, **** it. People are just going to have to die.

If social distancing and OCD hygiene has to continue for years. The ramifications it could have on the next generations potentially be far worse than relieving the taxpayer of yesterday’s. In my opinion.

    I resemble that comment.

To be fair, I owned the lycra before the lockdown and I generally wear something baggy over it so I don't offend public sensibilities.

Going on Love Island and having 285,000 online followers probably helps a little in these circumstances.

Victoria Beckham has reversed her decision to furlough about 30 staff at her fashion label.

The designer, 46, placed some of her employees on the government's business scheme to help firms navigate choppy waters during the coronavirus pandemic.

She faced criticism from the public for her application to the scheme, as her combined net worth with husband David is estimated to be £335m.

I like the "**** it. people are just going to have to die. From day one it was glaringly obvious this was nasty. Decimate the population, or, decimate the economy. And that decision had to be taken by whoever was in the corridors of power. Deaths ranging from 20,000 to 750,00, did the larger number diminish my horror at the deaths so far, it could have been a lot worse? Every day I check on the notified cases, hoping to see a drop, but even locally it looks like the numbers have doubled in the last ten days, despite isolation despite all precautions that can be taken.

Until a vaccine is found there can be no return to, normality? the way we were? the good old days?. Until a vaccine is found, yes, "**** it. People are just going to have to die"

Please please, soon, let there be a small ray of sunshine in this.

Well hearing Chris Witty talking about the second wave and saying this isn’t going to go away. We can’t carry on like this forever. Yes a vaccine will change things for the better, but when? In a years time?

Meanwhile businesses are going bust, people losing jobs and going into bankruptcy, we’re raising a generation of germaphobe kids beating it into them to fear the outside world and social contacts. They are picking that up very easily but how easy will it be to beat that back out of them?

Be interesting to see if those smart arse anti-vaxxer parents who object to the MMR jab for their kids and contribute to the rise in measles cases, think a flu/covid jab will be ok.

Sometimes I think the 'old normal' before all this was actually the problem.

I will be refusing the vaccine as it has been tested on animals, if they decide everyone has to have it.

ONS have some graphs and charts for those that like such things.

I can't work out why on the gif on the twitter feed, Hull is shown blue, which according to the key is 40 to 65 deaths per 100,000 people, but following the link to the website, Hull is yellow, and has 17.

It's a collective madness and panic.

The consistent statistic seems to be that child mortality and those under-40 are 'largely' unaffected (deaths rates for this age group are similar to flu) and yet are kept off school and out of work in case they infect their grandparents... that they are isolated from anyway in the lockdown.

As you mention, a quarter of the workforce are out of action. Have to learn methods to live with it and reducing population concentration and masks on public transport seems to be way forward. Obesity and type 2 diabetes seems to be a factor in death rates for those under 70, so perhaps greater public awareness of reducing this is a step in the right direction.

There isn't actually a single case, worldwide, of a child giving it to an adult(at least not yet).

How would anyone know that no cases have been transferred from children then? (I wasn't talking about publishing individual info I thought you must have seen something on stats from where transmission had come from.

No child is known to have passed COVID-19 on to an adult, a review of evidence from around the world has found.

The review into paediatric coronavirus studies found it is likely children "do not play a significant role" in transmitting the coronavirus and are significantly less likely to become infected than adults.

It also found there has not been a single case of a child under 10 transmitting COVID-19, even through contact tracing carried out by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
