Is Captain known as Colonel in Canada? Captain Tom Moore celebrates 100th birthday The war veteran who has raised millions for the NHS has celebrated his 100th birthday in style, with tributes have pouring in from around the country. With celebrations under way, the total Captain Tom Moore has raised by completing laps of his garden for NHS Charities Together topped £30m. Capt Tom was also made an honorary colonel, and became an honorary member of the England cricket team. The occasion was also marked with an RAF flypast and birthday greetings from the Queen and prime minister.
A wonderful man deserves all the accolades he is receiving. Happy Birthday. P.S. As a bit of a coincidence my sister messaged me to say a neighbour of ours when we were growing up celebrated her 100th birthday the other day, and is still living in the same house as when we were neighbours. She must have been in the house 70 years, as they moved in next to us not long after I was born.
The MoD made him a colonel yesterday. He was also made an honourary member of the England cricket team.
Shame he didn’t get a knighthood to go with it. He has been an inspiration to the nation. Getting out there and making it happen not sitting on his arse in a castle with 20 servants.
They don't randomly issue knighthoods whenever they fancy it, there's two meetings a year when these things are decided and they're announced on New Years Day and the Queens Birthday, he'll no doubt get his next month.
