This is what I agree with, Hamilton needs to just calm it down.. that is all. He is not a multiple WDC winner, he needs to learn from his mistakes and move on from there. Hamilton is losing his composure.. my advice would be keep looking forward to the next gp. Don't let these results get you down. Snapping at other drivers after the race is a bit over the top even though he did not acutally DNF. :L
If I was one of these drivers and one person continuosly kept hitting me, then i'd definetely want to talk to them about it. That's what I mean. And Hamilton didn't totally maintain composure. Apparently when Massa went to first talk (calmly) to him, Hamilton walked off without answering and so when Massa tapped him on the shoulder (yes he tapped him on the shoulder! That could have hurt Hamilton more than what Hamilton did to Massa. Outrageous violence!) in the interview area, Hamilton snapped back and said "Don't touch me again". Doesn't sound like composure to me.
Sandwich: you attempt to trivialise Massa's actions but even "tapping on the shoulder" can quickly escalate when emotions are running high, as I'm sure you know. Furthermore, continuing to approach someone who does not want to talk is potentially inflammatory. To continue trying to talk (however calmly) to someone who does not want to talk can quickly become harrassment and can quickly spill into something less calm. And if I didn't want to talk to someone who pursued me and then physically touched me to force his attention upon me, I think I'd feel myself reasonably composed if I managed to restrict a reaction to "Don't touch me again". P.S. How do you know he wanted to "talk calmly"?
Lewis should of knocked Massa out really, it was a accident and no need for that and thought Perez caused Schumanchers accident, should of yielded the place to him and how Hamilton can get the penaltys he does and Schumacher nothing for the things he does is beyond me lol, and to be honest i'm not a " hamilton fanboy " i just like watching him he makes racing more exciting, Buttons a bit like Tennis' Tim Henman, his a good driver no doubt and i like button but i just think even yesterday why didn't he give it a go untill right at the end?
Regardless of the drivers involved I disagree with most penalties. If a drive clearly and intentionally breaks the rules and benefits then fine, give a penalty. However when an incident is simply a case of a misjudgement and the driver has also caused damage to his own race then no a penalty should not be handed out, this is what reprimands are for. How people expect 2 drivers overtaking under the extreme conditions of F1 not to result in possible contact is beyond me. We may as well just have qualifying and award the points based on times laps.
On www.f1.com in the "selected team and driver quotes" section Massa says "After the race, I tried to talk to him to clear the air but he walked away without answering". Not "calmly" as I previously said but to all intents and purposes, they're effectively the same thing. You're not going to clear the air with someone if you start shouting at them. I may be only 16, but every time I've seen anyone clear the air with someone it is always done in a calm, reasonable manner. Just thought I'd clear that up
Sandwich: Massa wanted to talk but Hamilton didn't. What's more, Hamilton made it very clear that he didn't! For that reason, Massa was provocative in continuing to pursue the matter; indeed, he was actually harassing him by forcing him to pay attention to his demands (by physically touching him) particularly from behind with Hamilton unaware of his approach. From a legal point of view, if it had escalated into violence, Massa's insistence and the manner of his approach would have been significant factors, in light of it already being clear that Hamilton did not want to discuss it - as is his absolute right.
Cosi: So Massa should have done nothing? With the result of that being an increased tension on an already strained relationship so that the next time an incident like this occurs that strain becomes too much that a physical outbreak actually does occur? Something much worse than a tap on the shoulder. Massa trying to 'clear the air' wouldn't have necessarily avoided that situation but it definetley would have lessened the effects from a possible punch-up to a heated discussion. On a lighter and different note, how do you always make your text green? Is it some kind of permanent setting or do you just manually make it green each time?
Yes, Massa should have kept his mouth shut. Considering how much of a bashing Hamilton has gotten recently for "speaking his mind" publicly in post race interviews from people both on here and in the media I'm surprised the focus of discussion is Hamiltons driving and not Massas unprofessionalism. But then again, one set of standards by which to judge Hamilton and another for everyone else.
If he has a grievance which he wants to get off his chest before waiting for a mutually appropriate time, he should use the appropriate channels. Once he saw Hamilton's unwillingness to indulge him, his actions were inappropriate. Let me make this a little clearer, Sandwich: If you come up to me at Silverstone next year and I tell you I do not want to talk, I hope you will respect my wish and not come up behind later on, slapping me on the arm or touching me on the shoulder to get my attention - in order to make some sarcastic remark about my behaviour - no matter how unreasonable you might consider it. It is about respecting personal space and not invading it when it is clearly unwanted.
I think Hamilton started invading a bit on massas space during the race But seriously, yes Massa should respect Hamiltons wish and stay away. BUT Hamilton have no reason to be upset with Massa and feel the need to NOT talk to Massa right away anyway. Massa being the bigger man trying to clear the air DESPITE he never did anything wrong, i can very well see why he, after have been rejected by Hamilton, comes back with those remarks. Hamilton was the one who was unreasonable in the first place and made it escalate.
I'd just like to say I'm chucking a Raikkonen here, in that I have completely lost interest in this so you'll hear no more about it from me. I'm quite upset that I didn't get my most important question answered on if you can permanently change the colour of your typing.
Hahaha… Sorry, Sandwich; I thought you'd been given an answer by someone? But now, looking back through the thread, the correct answer appears to have been spirited away by means of edit! Just highlight the text and click on the please log in to view this image , in the above menu which allows bold and italic type. This will give a drop down menu where you can select the colour. The only reason I do it is that it makes it very easy to find where I've contributed to a thread.
I agree with what Martin Brundle said at the end of the race. What Massa did was actually quite clever, he used sarcasm rather than being aggressive or confrontational, he just sarcastically mocked Lewis rather than doing anything wrong! I can quite understand Massa's annoyance because Lewis keeps making clumsy misjudgements and dmaging other peoples race! Its the fact he KEEPS doing it that is why everyone in the pits seems so irritated by him, even the rookies arent being as careless! Lewis has now had 9 incidents whereas Sebastian and Fernando have made 1 or 2 and Jenson has made NONE that I can recall! (correct me if he has made a mistake!)
Hmmmm, very intersting, that just makes Massa's reaction even more justified - not only is Lewis bashing into people he is refusing to speak to them afterards too! He's just acting really immature and someone (probably Whitmarsh) needs to tell him to stop it, for HIS OWN SAKE! If he does that he will be on the same level as Jenson, Nando and Seb! They only make contact maybe once or twice a year not 9 or 10 times!
I still at a loss to understand how Kobayshi hitting hamiltons rear wheel and sending him off to end his race at spa, is a race incident and Hamiltons fault! How is it that heis not expected to slow down and allow hamilton to make the corner, and Hamiltons made to come out and apologise for not seeing some low grade touring car driver in his mirrors ramming him off the road. Kobi was not even repremanded for that! how the feck you get away with that is beyond me, and if I was Hamlition no fing way would I have accepted fault for that However when hamilton makes the same mistake , he's penalised and then has some waste of DNA after him at the end of the race trying to justify his pathetic perfomance as due to the punture! I getting the feeling that Ali Gee remark was bloody spot on, and Alan mcnish might as well wear a KKK hat as far as I'm concerned!
