On a serious note I don't get the problem. If they bring up a kid with love, humour and kindness like most parents do what's the big deal? On your first point, the fundamental difference is the right of choice ... female mutilation is usually imposed on a young female by adults for either cultural or religious reasons ... transgender operations are generally the choice of the individual that will undergo the surgery...

I'm not really sure how you confuse female mutilation (circumcision) with transgender choice. You can disapprove of it, which isn't my point, it's how you managed to confuse the two that I question. The latter was a choice.

Pretty sure it does. If people want to change their bodies in any way then I’m pretty laissez-faire about it. Some would be horrified by massive tattoos or piercings. If someone forced someone into anything it’s a whole different ball game. Get it, ball game!

People said similar things about gay people having children that are being raised in this thread yet all studies done to date show there not being an adverse effect on the life of children brought up by gay parents. Having loving parents who care and are engaged in their children’s lives is far more important than what gender or sexual orientation they have. My only point would be whether the transgender parents have worked through any mental issues relating to their transitions and are in a good head space to have children. A point I think equally applies to anyone wanting to have kids. Are you in the right place to do it? Live and let live.
