Mostly agree with the OP. But i think we can get something from one of the Manchester teams - hopefully Man City so that we extend the unbeaten run! And I think we have enough about us to get something from Chelsea too.

Really, those three games depend on how Santon fits in IMO. Raylor will get destroyed by them, and if Santon isn't up to speed I can't see him coping too well. Man C, Man U and Chelsea have a lot of power, pace and skill going forward. Our center backs can cope, but i'm not confident in our full backs right now...!

I don't think Spurs are that greatly improved, they let something like 8 players go over the summer and not really brought in replacements.
They only broughy Adebyour, Parker and Friedel in. I rate all these players, but the also have the Europa league to play in and thought we out played them up here last season. Should have won.
If I remember rightly Lennon scored with pretty much the last kick of the game, and see us as greatly improved in terms of skill compared to last season.

Was listening to the 606 phone in last night and there was a Spurs fan who claimed fourth in a fore gone conclusion that they'll get it and actually expects to over hall Chelski for 3rd!!!! Had a chuckle at that one

I see spurs as a very winnable game, Wolves next week I'll take a draw.
If we can kep picking up draws away and either draws or wins at home we'll be flying.

That's the thing. They've brought in players where they've had their weak spots. They had basically no striker threat until they got Adebayor, Gomes their keeper sucked and now they have Friedel, and Parker just adds to an already top midfield containing Modric, VDV, Bale and so on.

    Harry has spent very well.

We could win it, don't get me wrong, but it's one of the tougher games out of those 8.

I'd go for Steviemac's predictions. If you said to me that by 14 games we'd have taken 20 points and played all of the top 5 I'd have snapped your hand off <ok>

I've done two, first one's I expect us to do. Second one's are because we're just too unpredictable and that'll probably happen knowing Newcastle.

    Wolves vs Newcastle - Draw/Draw

    Newcastle vs Tottenham - Draw/Loss

    Newcastle vs Wigan - Win/Loss

    Stoke vs Newcastle - Loss/Draw

    Newcastle vs Everton - Draw/Win

Man City vs Newcastle - Loss/Draw

Man Utd vs Newcastle - Loss/Loss

    Newcastle vs Chelsea - Loss/Win

10 points for me. I just think against some teams at the top we can get points of them. We struggle against teams who are physical or try to defend. I think against teams that attack, provided we can defend ok we now have the players to hit them on the break. This is why I think we can get a point at Man City. Although it would be very difficult...

I had a dream that BA scored in the last minute against Man City and he ran upto De Jong and headbutted him! Quite random I know.

Wolves vs Newcastle - Draw/Win (more likely the former, Wolves were pretty good at home last season so think we'd do well to get 3 points here)

Newcastle vs Tottenham - Draw/Win (Spurs generally dont travel well and have a pretty terrible record at St James, Id be tempted for us to sneak by one but reckon a clean sheet is out of the question)

Newcastle vs Wigan - Win (need anything be said?)

Stoke vs Newcastle - Lose/Draw (Stoke is a ridiculously tough place to go and get a result, will be a real test of team spirit/character and would be happy to come away with a point)

Newcastle vs Everton - Win/Draw (Everton are a difficult team to predict, were unlucky in my opinion against Man City given ridiculous 5 early yellow cards so we might find it difficult to break them down, will sit on the fence here)

Man City vs Newcastle - Lose (a draw would be a fantastic result, if Santon is not fit I think their front 4 will have the better of both fullbacks which will make for a torrid 90 mins)

Man Utd vs Newcastle - Lose/Draw (on a fantastic run at the moment but tend to have an early season dip (vs. their traditional formidable last half of the season) and we might be able to take advantage and steal a point)

Newcastle vs Chelsea - Draw (Ive not been blown away by their performances yet, theres nothing to suggest to me that if we dont stay well organised that we can take a point from this)

Overall; 7-13 points, if I go with instinct from each I think 9-11 points is perfectly doable (still cant pick the Everton result)

I think the next 5 games will tell us how far we have come. If we can pick up 9/10 points we are definite 7th place candidates imo. Even 7/8 and we will have made a great, consistent start.

Itll be very interesting to see how those 8 games shape up - we should know then whether a top 8 finish is likely. Furthermore if we take 10 points from those fixtures we'll be on for 60 points for the season which would have been enough to take 6th last season, and top 6 four out of the five last seasons!!

Wolves - W : So far teams with a strong mid field have carved them up at the Molineux, so no reason we can't do the same.

Tottenham - W/D: with us sat between Arsenal and Rubin Kazan europa fixture we may look like the team to rest some players in especially if the derby gets feisty and some players are carrying knocks.

Wigan - W: although they don't have any extra fixtures to tire them out with an average of 4 shots on target per away game this should be like the Blackburn game.

Stoke - D: Relatively small squad and europa concerns, while I expect them to defend to the last and come back strongly to keep us out most of the game any injuries should allow us to stay level.

Everton - W: By this point Everton should be quite demoralized after playing Liverpool, man u and Chelsea in October, if this was a game at Goodison park they might have used this to bounce back but at sjp no chance.

    Man c - L:
man u - L: Both the Manchester clubs have teams too big to worry about too many fixtures and while anything can happen in football these games are not a safe bet for it to happen.

Chelsea - D/L: If they rest players for the Champions League against Valencia a drew is possible, they also don't seam to have the cutting edge that would be needed to win the EPL. As for form take out man u and tell me again who has had the easy start.

    say 11 points totalling 23 after 14.

For me I think as follows:

Wolves vs Newcastle - Draw. It'll be tough because they have an exceptional home record but I think we can stick it out and snatch a 1-1.

Newcastle vs Tottenham - Draw. I've gone draw but I could easily see us getting the win if we get after tham early and get control of midfield. They are very good though.

Newcastle vs Wigan - Win. I strongly fancy we'll turn them over. You have to respect all teams but at home we need 3 points from these kinds of games. I think we'll get them.

Stoke vs Newcastle - Loss. Just a horrible team to play at their place. They are very awkward. Hopefully it falls after a European week, because they looked shot against the Mackems and we know how tough those mid week trips can be.

Newcastle vs Everton - Win. Always a tough game but I don't see why not.

Man City vs Newcastle - Loss. Top class side and really tough at their place. Saying that we outplayed them last year over the course of the two games, but they're a better "team" this year.

Man Utd vs Newcastle - Loss. We'll do well to get anything from these guys, just lethal this year.

Newcastle vs Chelsea - Loss. We do tend to up our game but unfortunately I think he'll start to have his stamp on them by then and I think he is a very clever manager.

Only 8 points I hear you cry, but when you look closely at the fixtures there some tough nuts to crack and I think this would be steady for us.

Wolves vs Newcastle - W (got a good feeling about this'n...We've got more ability and are showing plenty of grit)

    Newcastle vs Tottenham - D

    Newcastle vs Wigan - W

    Stoke vs Newcastle - L

    Newcastle vs Everton - W

Man City vs Newcastle - L (narrowly)

Man Utd vs Newcastle - L

    Newcastle vs Chelsea - D

Leaving us with 11 points, sitting on 23 points with only 17 points 'till safety!
At that point last season we were on 18 points and in 10th place.

IF we were to continue in the same vein of form (based against last seasons results) then we would accumulate a total of around 13 more points than last season...13 more points last season would've left us in 6th, 3 points behind Spurs and Europe!

I realise none of what I just said is particularly relevant, but I'm a bit bored...
