Johnson should not be judged for being off work sick or taking paternity leave imo.
But he should be criticised for putting forward the ludicrous herd immunity plan and for saying he was still shaking people's hands (against the medical advice we were being told to follow).
He should be criticised for that **** show in the commons before xmas when his government along with the DUP denied nurses a pay rise above 1%. The only parties to vote against it were the Tories and the DUP and he could have ordered his whips to mske his MPs pay them fairly.

    Agree with almost of that.

He’s had enough holidays this year to need paternity leave during a pandemic we’re clearly not doing very well in though. I’m sure he’ll have a couple of weeks in Mustique when it’s next safe to do so to make up for it.

765 today, total deaths also adjusted up by 4000 to include care home deaths who tested positive.

We are now almost level with Italy in terms of confirmed deaths at 27,000 but our daily death rate is almost double.

Being the worst hit European country is now a certainty.

Sorry all if I'm not showing any sympathy for Boris and his difficult private life. At least he's got one, unlike those who have died because of this virus.

Ive lost track of what the official number is including. Are we now going with hospital deaths + tested non-hospital deaths as we’re still a long way off the more credible estimates.

Hmm, I'm not sure with that person's question, about removing people from care homes into the Nightingales. I'm not dismissing the idea, but I would approach it with extreme caution.

Completely agree! Judge the man by his actions and policies in government rather than attacking him for being off work to be around for the birth of his child and being hospitalised with an infectious disease.

There’s plenty of legitimate criticism that can be levelled at politicians without needing to slag them off for doing things we would all see as perfectly acceptable if it was anyone but the individual in question.

Most deaths from C19 are linked to people with underlining health problems, with heart problems being the biggest also its killing fat bastards, but smokers are not that high. So you can see why people in care homes are suffering the worst as with age, you often end up with a underlying condition.

Buy who cares, let us all blame the government instead.

Not sure they have underlining health problems, mate.

You’d maybe have some sort of point, probably not but let’s run with it, if other countries didn’t have people with the same conditions and we were the only country with old people.

I’m not really in to blaming anyone at the minute mate, but I think most people would agree that the handling of care home residents and staff has been a bag of ****.

I would not want my relatives to be in a care home right now, and I would not want to be working in one either. It's pretty shocking stuff however they present the numbers.

I think it must be fair to say the impact on care homes didn't have to be this bad.

I have care home clients and the ones I work with seem to be doing fine at the moment, plenty of PPE, clear guidelines around how things are done etc... if I have to go and meet them in person it’s done outside at 2m+ distance and wherever possible meetings are done via conference calls or Skype/teams/zoom etc...

Any staff who do have to enter buildings they have strict processes to follow to minimise the chance of infection.

Not suggesting this is the case across the country of course as there will be hugely varying standards in both how generally well run and efficient the homes are and in how they’ve reacted to Covid. Plus luckily none of the care homes I work with have had any major outbreaks, which obviously isn’t the case everywhere!

But for anyone who does have relatives in care homes at the moment and are worried, it’s good to know it isn’t all **** for every home. There are plenty who have managed to get the resources they need and have good practices in place. Try not to despair!

It’s quite humorous that in the same statement the BBC feel the need to respond to claims of bias from both sides of the political spectrum! On the one hand accusations from the right of the program speaking to left wing people, and on the other accusations they didn’t publicise the program presumably to stop it reaching a wide audience which would be favourable to the government (read “right wing”).

If both sides of the argument think you’re bias towards the other do you reckon you’re managing to be fair? Or do we all think everything is biased against our own way of thinking by default?

    Rambling over... <laugh>
