I might be the only one, but I don't think he saw £££ at all.
I think he saw an opportunity, -probably the only one he'll ever get- to be a premier league chairman.
Sadly for us his football savvy does not (so far) seem to be up to the task.

I think a lot of people agree with this, but a lot don't and use his ramblings as a bat to hit him with. We need to accept that he's in charge and wait for him to deliver or move on, leaving us to support the lads through thick and thin

Anything up to July last year, so AFAIK:

Alvarez transfer was already dealt with in much earlier accounts, maybe even 15-16?

Alvarez contract court case won't show up as the last official word was in late 2019 and it's not clear what happened. It may show a sum set aside for this though.

Rodwell will be factored into the playing contract costs so won't be a specific line I don't think, ditto Catts Djilobodji and Ndong.

So in answer, yes, it will probably show us most of this, just not likely to be specific about a lot of it. That's why it's such a pularver, because you can't see a line by line bank statement or business plan, you have to piece together a bunch of information from multiple parties. The stuff between Madrox and SAFC will be the most important, we should be able to work out a net + or -

:D no chance, there's a reason why I pay an accountant to do company accounts.

The Alvarez thing soesn;t sit right with me. Why should Donald etc. have to pay for something that some half wit completely messed up on years before they bought the club? It's like me being sued for an accident in my house 3 years before I bought it!

I like your thinking, perhaps Donald could buy Mbappe and a few others on loan and sell the club, relinquishing us of all responsibility for paying for them.

<doh> I understand the club responsibilities in this. But how would you feel if you bought a business and someone sued you for something the ex owner did? And you had to pay. I’m not saying he shouldn’t be paid for. Just that something should’ve been sorted before the club purchase to ensure it didn’t fall on the new owners.

I agree with you that Donald shouldn't personally be responsible, but SAFC are, that's what due diligence is about. Anything outstanding financially, should be reflected in the purchase price.

I know what you mean, but it was Sunderland football club who agreed to the original deal and unless they cease trading, they’re liable regardless of who owns the club. Bit harsh perhaps, but that’s why due diligence needs to be carried out effectively as opposed to a quick look through the books. Luckily for Donald that Short adjusted his selling figure when this was highlighted as he didn’t really have to.

Yeah I understand that but weren’t Safc also due to the fees already in place for the likes of Borini and others? If that could be made available to Short I dint see why this couldn’t. Be made payable by him as it was his deal. Had his cake and eaten it. @Mr_B this goes fir SAFC making the deal too. As you say @Montysoptician its due diligence!!

I am not good on balance sheets Marcus but I am sure you are right, income from player sales would also be identified in due diligence and would reflect in the final purchase price.
I seem to remember reading/hearing that Ellis Short dropped his initial asking price because Watford refused the option to buy Ndong.

The due diligence was by all accounts a ****show. That's why Donald went back cap in hand back in Sep. 2019 asking for a bit more money off his share purchase.

If Short wasn't still owed his money for the shares, he could have just told Donald to **** off, but because there was still a financial interest, he probably didn't fancy any kind of legal/financial arseholery from Donald and decided to knock £2.4m off which was probably in the spirit of things. Almost certainly on the proviso that he couldn't come back for further issues, though, so with the Alvarez case taking a new turn, Donald now decides to hound the doctor.

The whole thing is an embarrassment to us, from start to finish. Suing the doctor for money that he almost certainly doesn't have, trying to bankrupt someone who acted in good faith on behalf of the club, is the final dollop of ****e on top.

We'll probably lose that court case and end up having to pay his legal costs too. It's the only right way for this to end.

Anyone who turns up for a look around a club he's looking to buu, wearing a scruffy sweatshirt and looking like a 'paraffin lamp' cant be trusted.
