I really do. Does anyone else just feel a lot more confident with him in between the posts compared to the likes of Harper or Elliot? I just know that he has a world class reflex save inside of him which he can whip out if he has to. I just know that he's a wall in himself, and still poses a challenge for the opposition even if they do manage to get past our rock solid defence. He isn't perfect, and he may miss some saves or make some blunders, but I now feel very comfortable with him looking after the goal.
The one thing that really impresses me with Krul is that he always looks to roll the ball out to the defenders. He rarely boots it up field, especially at home, he tries to build it up from the back and that helps us play better football!
His distribution on Saturday and in general is excellent. I noticed a few times on sat when the ball was played back to him he doesnt just lump it up the field, he looks for a pass. His passing range and accuracy is phenomenal for a goalkeeper. Better than some outfield players we have had here over the past few seasons!!
Yeh this season he's been brilliant, made the odd little ****up here and there but overall I'd definitely say I'm happier with him in goal than our other two options. Last season I'd have said Harper all the way, and Harper is a very solid keeper but some of Krul's reaction saves have been insane this season and admittedly they're stops Harper wouldn't have made. He is also improving almost visibly game by game; for example he made a few positional errors against Fulham (one cost us the clean sheet) and ever since I don't recall him making a similar mistake once.
That does my head in when keepers boot it. It either goes for a throw in or to the opposition thankfully we seemed to stop it due to lack of height
And he is still young - that is what blows me away about him. MOst keepers reach there peak pretty late on, so if he is going to follow that trend i can't see anyone beating him in a few years! Really good keeper, definitely feel comfortable with him between the sticks.
A lot of the top goalkeepers start being good at a young age nowadays. De Gea, Cech was like 22?, Casillas, Begovic it goes on.
New age of football, players are physically peaking at a young age due to training etc which helps their overall performance, in 10 years, there will be 16 year olds playing in every team!
